Cyberlink remote+Win 7 x64 - How to disable Win Media Cen?

Post by Dnq3 »

I've just got a Cyberlink remote, and the Ir drivers were installed automatically after connecting to Windows Update. Initially, EG only recognized a few buttons, but after following the information posted by misake in this thread, EG now recognizes all the buttons.

However, some of the buttons also trigger Windows Media Center, which I don't want. How can I disable WMC on Win 7 x64 ?

I ended up using Group Policy Edit to stop WMC from running. You can do this by following these instructions (but not on Home editions of Windows).

turn off Media Center from reacting to a MSC keyboard or IR remote

click Start | Control Panel | Default Programs | Set Program access and computer defaults

then select the option for Custom
expand chevron at right side of screen
then scrool down for category: Choose a default media player
find: Windows Media Center
then uncheck option: Enable access to this program
beside: Windows Media Center
