I know I am a bit late, but I can answer your questions :

You use the V2 remote. Volume Buttons can only send ir commands. The V2 remote is known to loose pairing quiet often.

I personnaly use the V1. It has no volume buttons, but I use the small steps one. Some others uses L1/L2 or R1/R2 ...

I Uploaded a new version to fix an issue when receiving an event with a suffix that is only one char length.

if you send prefix.s, you would get an event : defautPrefix.prefix.s

It's now fixed. And I added a few more checks for tricky eventstrings (those who starts or ends with a dot)

Hello, I have developed a long time ago the TCP Events plugin.

This plugin enable a "rich" dialog between 2 eg (generating events of course, but also sending data, requesting data, remote evaluation of python expr ...)

I Have also coded a .Net DLL that implements all the functionalities of this ...

Sure, there is python, but there is also C/C++ ...

Eg is designed to run on win32 on x86.

Pi is ARM ....

I have a really busy eventghost tree, my eg receives a lot of events and so the log panel is nearly constantly scrolling to display new events and associated macros.

So, for me it's sometimes hard to catch a new event to drag it to a macro, or when things goes wrong, It's really difficult ...

If you need to exchange data between two EG TCPEvents is the plugin you need :

I am using it for months (years ...) it's rock stable.
plus, it can speak with the good old NER/NES ... give it a try !

you could also use autoremote which will make tasker communicate both way with eg without the need to know the IP.

or use dyndns or no-ip or something similar for wan access, or simply a fixed ip for your lan interface if you need only lan access.

If you really need to watch for ip change, I think you could save the result of ipconfig to a text file and compare on start, or if its wan, scrap something like http ...

eg.TriggerEvent(prefix="Main",suffix="SendSMS",payload=[destNum,text])

The delay is implied by the unload/reload drivers inside windows. you won't be able to speed it up.
