Windows 7, MCE Remote & Sleep issue

Post by rexian »

Yet another thread with Windows 7 issue with EG or MCE Remote or the OS itself. I run EG as Admin and it can receive the IR commands and pass to XBMC without any issues. Only thing is that I have to enter the admin password when the OS runs it after I log in as a normal user and I can live with it until there is a better (service?) solution.

The issue for me is that when the PC wakes up from S3 sleep (after pressing the button, remote can't wake the computer for me), XBMC doesn't react to the remote commands anymore. I have checked the EG log and it doesn't receive any commands since the wake up though everything was fine until it went to sleep.

Anyone else has experienced something like this? I don't recall having exact this issue with Vista earlier though I have never been able to wake the computer from S3 sleep with this remote.

Thanks.

UPDATE:
I dug deeper and it seems something else (OS?) is the issue here. After the PC wakes up, the IR Receiver doesn't glow at all when I press the remote buttons and Device Manager shows up like this -

If I restart or disable/enable the IR receiver, it works. So, it's certainly not EG but either the driver that came with W7 or the OS itself :(
