Allow MCE remote to control Win7 Media Center?

Post by mazmaz »

Using EG 0.3.7.r965 on Windows 7 Home Premium to control ZoomPlayer and everything is working nicely.

However there are some things in Windows 7 Media Center that I would like to keep using: notably the satellite TV functions which work really well (apart from some minor problems with the EPG data).

Problem: how to get EventGhost to exit and/or release control of the MCE remote, ideally when I push the Green Button, so that I can control Windows 7 Media Center with said remote? I'm not at all bothered about doing the reverse procedure from the remote and it would be fine if EG just resumed control after a reboot.

I've had a look through the forum but can't find anything that covers this, though there are some recent comments in the big Win7 thread that seem to be asking for the same feature.

If anyone can think of a way of getting EG to do this, please speak up! TIA.

Hmm. Part way to answering my own question, maybe.

Is there a Win7 Media Center Plugin for EG? If there is then I could run this from the green button and from that point on EG would be controlling Media Center. A rather convoluted way of doing it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Is there such a Plugin anywhere? Otherwise I suppose I could map the keystrokes to the keypad.

There's no plugin at the moment, but I'm making one.
