I am having one heck of a time trying to get an XP driver for the IR blaster that is built into my Aopen MP45-DR. In Device Manager, I have a the infamous yellow exclamation point under Other Devices. I have found numerous posts on how to get it to work:
1. One post said that the driver is in SP2, so I did a fresh install of XP and isntalled SP2. Still no good.
2. On XBMC site, there is a tutorial on how to get it working using SP3 and some drivers to download and install. Still no good.
3. The WiKi on this site shows another method to get it working, but still no good.
Anyone have an idea on what I need to do to get it working. BTW, the remote works fine in Vista Ultimate. The reason I want to use XP is I stripped my XP distro using nLite and it is blazing fast (perfect for an HTPC running XBMC).
If I can't get the built-in IR blaster to work, will something like USB-UIRT be the answer?

It never fails. No matter how much research I do, as soon as I post a question, I find the answer.
Basically, it was being detected wrong. When I chose Update Driver, I chose the following in sequence:
1. No, not at this time.
2. Install from a List or Specific Location
3. Don't search. I will chose a driver to install.
4. Scroll all the way to the bottom and choose Universal Serial Controller.
Once I did that, it was all gravy. Now my remote works beautifully.
