I am currently using EventGhost 0.3.7.r1194 and Windows 7 7600 RTM with the Xbox 360 Remote Control, and the included MCE Remote Plugin.
Out of the box Windows 7 didn't respond to the Xbox 360 Remote Control, but after changing a setting in TweakMC it works great! (Changed Remote Code to 0 instead of 1). Everything works as intended without any third party software! Great for Media Center.
My issue is that I wanted to bind some more commands to my remote and EventGhost seemed perfect for the job. However EventGhost seems determined to disable the HID Service. Even though I UNCHECKED the "Disable HID Service for this remote" box, it still disables it!!!
Even when I use TweakMC to re-enable it, EventGhost will always disable it again on restart. I want it enabled because Windows supports the remote without problems. Very frustrating!
Any ideas?

Do you have any web references for "changed Remote Code to 0?" I have no idea what that does. If you want the OS to handle signals from the remote, why do you need to change anything at all?
Is it possible that the effect of the TweakUI change wasn't noticed until after reboot, and you are assuming the change is made by EG? With "Disable HID Service for this remote" unchecked, EG should leave everything alone.
It sounds like your intent is to use the MCE IR Receiver, but have some commands handled by the OS and other handled by EG. I don't think this is possible. MS won't share the receiver, either the OS handles receiver data or EG does.

I figured out the problem. The issue was that the MCE Remote Plugin switches between 2 preset registry entries. The entry for when "Disable HID Service" was unchecked did not match the one I was using with TweakMC. So EventGhost would dectect that the registry entry did not match and it would constantly be changing it.
My solution was to edit the "__init__.py" file to disable all registry checking and editing, therefore leaving my own registry settings intact.
So now I have the best setup! I can use my Xbox 360 remote with the Windows 7 default settings and still use EventGhost for my custom buttons.
