Hello everyone. I'm sorry to have to ask for help, but I've spent about 6 hours on my own and I can't get EventGhost to log anything.
I have a Harmony 550 remote and a Microsoft MCE IR receiver.
For some reason I can't get EventGhost to log my IR commands. I can see by the red light going on that the receiver is working, but nothing logs. In fact, if I press up, down, left, right on my remote (set up to emulate the MCE remote) it will actually move the highlighted area in EventGhost. For example, if I push down, the highlight within the program will move down. From AutoStart to Plug-in, for example.
I've added a Plug-in- Microsoft MCE Remote, but that's as far as I can get because I can't get any events logged.
Any suggestions? I'm super frustrated.
thanks!

newbie in desperate need of help
Re: newbie in need of help (IR codes not being logged)
thanks for replying. I've already read thru the wiki including the Controlling Your Living Room page.
"EventGhost is a very interesting program. You install plugins that enable different events to be displayed on the logger. Simply click the add plugin button to gain access to the plugin listing screen."
I was able to do this. I added my MCE IR Receiver.
"An event triggers a macro and a macro consists of one or more actions. For example, I set up the disc button on my remote to launch iTunes. First, I installed the USB-UIRT plugin. Then, when I pointed the remote toward the USB-UIRT and pressed the disc button on the remote the IR code was displayed in the logger."
This is where my problem lies. I can't get EventGhost to log the IR codes that my remote sends. The remote will cause the IR Receiver to blink red and will even control the cursor within EventGhost, but EG won't log anything.
It seems that something is "grabbing" the IR signal before EG can get it. My goal is to be able to open and close Meedio with my remote and also to be able to select subtitles and audio tracks from mkv files. Everything else already works fine with the remote from within Meedio.
thanks for any help or suggestions.

Re: newbie in desperate need of help
You read the MCE remote FAQ?
http://www.eventghost.org/wiki/MCE_Remote_FAQ
The events are being stolen somewhere and being used as keyboard equilents, thats why the up/down arrows control EventGhost rather then registering as events.

Where did http://www.eventghost.org/wiki/MCE_Remote_FAQ go?
I've started a new topic about this at http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtop ... f=2&t=1950.

Re: newbie in desperate need of help
spon, I'm not an expert, but I think the problem you are having is that drivers can report IR events as simulated keystrokes (HID Device?), or as IR codes (MCE Device?), or both. I've heard of both being reported, resulting in double results. So maybe you need to use EventGhost's HID device plugin instead.

spon: are you using Vista or XP?
if you are using vista you need to use the new mce plugin and service for vista/win7
get it and learn about it here:
