http://www.sun-wave.com/indexe.php says that your device is "compatible" with MCE, not that it is an MCE remote/receiver. There are two separate tasks the software accomplishes - receiving the IR signals and translating particular signals into windows events to support MCE. This plugin (and the service) keep windows from doing the 2nd task, so that EG can do that task instead. My guess (based on not having the device recognized by the service) is that sun-wave wrote their own driver, which does both tasks. I don't think there is a simple fix to get it working.

I can't tell if it is possible to get the service to work with your device or not. I would be curious to see if you have the standard registry values for CodeSetNum1, and if removing those caused numbers not to show up in Notepad.exe.

I can confirm that you'll need to remove the old MceRemote plugin from your configuration, save and restart EventGhost to get rid of the MceRemote.unknown.### codes. It's working perfectly without having to elevate any priviliges on startup or anything! Finally I can start EventGhost on system startup.

Thanks for the great program and the contributions/changes you are making! (I will consider donating some money to this project when I have some to spare!)

Hi ,
I didn't find any MCE driver ..

mean time I added a keyboard as plugIn and the remote is working as a keyboard(every button activate a keyboard key), the only problem now is that EG disable the macro that releated to keyboard pressing after reboot , is any method to stop disabling the keyboard exsist ?
I know that the keyboard button will not work, is there an option to make the windows end EG to get the button, anyway EG now work fine with the keyboard input (exepct after restart :-) )

asafloz-

Sorry, I didn't follow that at all.

The Keyboard plugin should only be used in rare cases. It steals keyboard input for use by EG instead of other programs. There are some rare cases where it is useful, but not for most users.

That being said, if that works with the remote, it sounds like the remote's driver is automatically mapping button presses to keyboard output, and you are getting the keyboard output from the keyboard plugin. Ideally you would want to get IR signal into EG, not the keyboard result (you could then use the keyboard and remote at the same time).

If still have a question, could you try explaining it again?

Nice to hear! Thanks for the feedback.

It will be nice to work with the EG from the remote(and not remote that set as a keyboard),

I don't know how to make the EG to work with the remote ,
there isn't any MCE driver ,and the remote have a spcial USB driver,
which plugIn should I had to the EG ?
should I define somthing at the windows system ?

anyway in case it will not help , I will work witg the keyboard ,
Today the EG after reboot disable the entire keyboard macro,
is there any option to tell the EG not to ?

Thanks.

I think, at this moment, there isn't a plugin that will work for that device.

There's probably an "enable exclusive" macro in your startup list that disables it. EG, without exclusion macros, will restore all of your macros and plugins to the state they were in when last used (assuming you save the config if you make changes).

Hi again.

beside the double events that occurs when firing blasting with Mce event [ page 15 of this thread ] I noticed another problem -

when you fire any blasting event from the Mce Remote , its sometimes get stuck in the blasting action , see the log :

MceRemote.Mce.Pound
sleep
Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista/Win7: Transmit IR: 0000 0071 0000 0024 014A 00A5 0016 0012 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 0012 0018 0012 0016 0014 0014 003E 0014 003D 0018 003D 0014 003E 0014 003D 0018 003D 0014 003E 0014 0014 0016 0012 0016 0014 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 0012 0016 003E 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 0012 0016 003E 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 05E0 014C 0051 0016 0E54

it then go to sleep and no other Mce event can be triggered for about 10 second ( I think the service stuck in some kind of loop? )
after the sleep you can see the blaster flashing and the event is actually sent to the TV. the log continues like this :

MceRemote.Unknown.55AA82A0AA5CB70

when it get stuck like this , at the end it sends just one blast as expected and not 2 .

what is wrong with my set?

What goes to sleep? Is it just this command that has the problem? Does it happen everytime you use this command? Or is it random and this is just an example?

The python code sends a transmit request to the service, which sends the request to the IR device. IIRC, there is a 10 second timeout waiting for a response.

the Event Ghost goes to sleep , you press some other key and its not responding , then when its "wakes up" it response to the key you pressed in the sleeping time...

It's just an example, all the macros of this form acts the same :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<EventGhost Version="1194">
<Macro Name="green" Expanded="True">
<Event Name="MceRemote.Mce.Green" />
<Action>
EventGhost.TriggerEvent(u'TV.av', 0.0)
</Action>
</Macro>
</EventGhost>

if I fire the macro with right click => execute item it won't happen ( works fine ).

And I counted, its actuality 10 seconds and sometimes more then that...
can you tell me in which line in the python plugin the timeout is defined?

I'm having trouble following your descriptions.

To me, blasting is telling EG to have your MCE device transmit IR codes to some other device (like your TV). Pressing buttons on your remote will "transmit" as well, but to me that is just the IR codes getting sent by the remote, which the MCE device "receives". You last code snippet had nothing to do with blasting. Are you saying that EG freezes for 10 seconds whenever a IR code is received?

You term sleep is confusing as well, as I consider sleep to be intentional - "I put the computer to sleep". EG has no sleep mode. You mean EG freezes, correct?

Sorry, just trying to understand what's going on!

Sorry for the confusion...

Yes , I have the same idea in mind when talking about blasting - to tell EG to send an IR code to other device...
but, pressing button on the MCE remote to trigger this blasting cause the problem.

I'm sorry I got the wrong text paste here in my last post.
what I meant to paste is :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<EventGhost Version="1194">
<Macro Name="tv/av" Expanded="True">
<Event Name="MceRemote.Mce.LiveTV" />
<Action>
MCE_Vista.TransmitIR(u'0000 0071 0000 0024 014C 00A3 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 0014 0016 0012 0016 0014 0016 0012 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 003D 0016 0014 0014 003E 0014 003E 0016 0012 0016 0014 0014 003E 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 0014 0014 0014 0016 0014 0014 003E 0016 003D 0014 0014 0016 003D 0016 0012 0018 003D 0014 05E2 014C 0051 0016 0E54', 0)
</Action>
</Macro>
</EventGhost>

this one get freeze , I'm sorry for the confusing term, but I found sleep more accurate since I saw that not the process of the Service nor the EG are doing any intensive CPU work during the freeze...

anyways, it get freeze only when fireing it with MCE.xxx event (pressing the MCE remote).
and it get double only when firing it with MCE.xxx event...

if I fire it with right click ==> execute its execute only once and it's not freezing ever...

thanks in advance for the efforts Brett

Thanks for the clarification. That is sounding similar to the problem jitterjames is having, so that is looking like a bug in the service.

You'll have to hold off on a fix until I can get another version of the service out.

Hi again Brett

I found something that might be helpful to you to fix the problem.
after the EG freezes from handling my MCE events I closed the EG and started it again.
in the log I saw this:

---> Welcome to EventGhost <---
Autostart
Plugin: Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista/Win7
MCE_Vista: MceIr pipe is not available, app doesn't seem to be running
Plugin: MediaPortal
Will continue to try to connect to MceIr
