Have I found the right application?

I have been searching for something like this one for a long time, but canÔÇÖt really understand if it can do what I want. Below is a description of what IÔÇÖd like to have and how IÔÇÖd like it to work, chances are that one of you have something configured much like what I want and can tell me a bit about what works and what donÔÇÖt.

I have a HTPC that I mainly use for MediaPortal. Connected to it is a MCE remote and a wirelsess keyboard. The operating system is Windows XP with everything from Microsoft Update (windows update), so SP3 and everything like that is installed.

MediaPortal config: I have a small app called ÔÇ£mptrayÔÇØ that enables the function when I press the Mediabutton on the MCE remote it starts MediaPortal. MediaPortal have great support for the MCE remote so nothing is changed there and I donÔÇÖt want anything to be changed there. I guess IÔÇÖll have to ÔÇ£tossÔÇØ mptray and use EventGhost for that? But I want the same functionality in MediaPortal as I have today.

I want EventGhost to enable some other functions, WinAmp, XBOX MediaCenter and maybe others, but I dont want it to screw things up since I sometimes use the keyboard with to computer to surf the net and some stuff

From what I get when it comes to EventGhost. It enables me to redirect button pushs on the remote to functions in Windows... kind of :p
But here is what I don't get.
Let's say that I create a macro when pressing button "movies" on my remote, that I want to start XBMC. That will be a-ok if MediaPortal is not running, but if MP is running I want it to go to movies in MP and not start XBMC.
Uhh, you guys get it?
So is there a way to make EventGhost "sleep" if I start MP and come back when I close MP?

Does EventGhost require the application to be always on top? From what I get that is a requirement, but I may be wrong

Using the "enable exclusive" plugin thinger you can have eventghost enable/disable certain parts of its configuration tree depending on which window is active.

So, for example (as clearly that above sentence is RUBBISH), when MP is the active window eventghost could enable the controls/keyboard mappings for MP (or do nothing in fact). When winamp is enabled MP controls are disabled and winamp ones are enabled.

It takes a bit of organising and sometimes a bit of thought in how to best arrange your eg tree.

if you want to use your mce remote with eventghost, it will mean that you have to use eventghost to control mediaportal. It can't listen to some keys and pass the rest. However it is easy enough to do and well worth it.
