Can this remote radio work?

Post by tsohg »

Hi, I am using EventGhost 0.3.7.r1194 with winxppro sp3.

I have an old usb receiver that has inbuilt radio with remote. I do not want to use the radio, but was wondering if just the remote part can work with EG, or whether I need it at all.

At the moment, I have the driver installed(last updated years ago), but in EG, if I choose plug-ins, I then choose HID, and the correct name of the remote is listed there. I add it, but nothing logs when any button on the remote is pressed.

The remote has its own little config utility, that lets one assign hot-keys, and it works.

But I'm not sure whether it basically is doing the same thing that EG will do, as I wish to use this with media portal, so am thinking maybe EG will work better for me for that.

This is the driver page/info of the device:

Thanks.

Hi.

If the software is able to create hot-keys you could mabe use the keboard plugin in eventghost to recive the hotkeys.

would that not be using two programs and resources just to achieve the same outcome?
If I set up all the hot-keys I need for media portal, wouldn't it be better, resource wise, just to use it alone, rather than use EG on top and use the same k/b method?

I thought maybe EG could access it directly somehow and would use a more efficient method?

Looks to me like a plugin for it could be made. They provide an SDK for it here under Radio-Xtreme - Downloads. It includes a dll that can be used to interface with the device.

However since nobody here owns the device it probably won't be supported anytime soon. Unless you are willing to make a plugin for it yourself?

Well, going by my first post, I think that would be highly unlikely  :D

Oh well, I really would have rather used EG to get it working with media portal, it is easier to use and more flexible.
Hopefully someone down the track might be able to give it a go.

Thanks again.
