Keyboard plugin and emulated keystrokes

I am trying to use a program to send keystrokes to my computer from an iphone. I used to have an older version of eventghost that would see the keystrokes and be able to trigger events based on them. With the 0.3.7.r1192 version this no longer works. From what I've read, I need to tell eventghost to catch emulated keypresses (from the forum posts on VNC). Is there any way to do this? Or tell the keyboard plugin to revert to previous behavior? Or even get an older version of the keyboard plugin?

Sorry, I can't. The application isn't open source and even if it was I am not a programmer.

In my case I just want the keyboard plugin to see all keyboard events again like it used to. That way I can use anything to trigger the event.

Search is your friend. Check my post, as Stottle pointed out, it has a decent workaround. There is currently no solution, the Keyboard plugin just doesn't recognize emulated keystrokes. You probably don't need that many key combos, so my workaround doesn't take that much time to implement.

I have read your post. Actually, I referenced it in my first post.

The older version recognized all keypresses even if they were simulated. I'm simply asking if there is a way to return to that behavior. Other than downgrading. Or if an option can be put in to support that behavior.

If not, I can do the same thing with my iphone app using the command line to pass events to eventghost. But that's inconvenient at best. I have two different kinds of remotes. Right now I simply assign two triggers to the same macros. Maintaining a mapping into eventghost for the iphone app is just more work that I'd prefer to not have to worry about, but will if I have no other choice.

Any idea which version this worked in? Which iPhone app are you working with? Getting the new Keyboard plugin to support emulated keypresses would be great, that's my goal as well, but we may have to talk with BitMonster about that.

It was a 0.3.6.xxx version. It's not on the download page anymore and I'm not sure I have it on my media pc anymore. I'll look for it when I get it hooked back up. I'm taking advantage of the 4 days off here in the US to move it down to my basement so I can hook it up directly to a TV.

The iphone app I'm using is iInterface from http://www.ntcodelabs.com. It's very cool, it's doing everything I want so far except for this new small snag with eventghost. You pay for the iphone program per iphone and can hook it up to as many pc's as you want. On the PC side there is a small client that has to be loaded, but after that you can use the iphone as a keyboard, screen viewer, remote control, wake on lan, etc. Very handy so far. Makes a perfect feeder into eventghost.

iInterface looks cool, but HippoRemote is simpler, does exactly what I need and the gui looks nicer IMO. Custom profiles are in beta right now, but they work very well. Designing custom buttons will take some effort though as buttons aren't broken out into individual images, you just specify the locations of buttons in an XML file (they have to be rectangular as well). I'll talk with the developer about implementing encryption over SSH, as that would be a nice feature. Check it out, but iInterface might be necessary if you need the more advanced features like WOL and screen viewing.

I found the old version. At the time that I built my media pc, the comments that I read indicated it wasn't the newest, but it was the most stable release. 0.3.6.1487, downloaded in March. I'm tempted to get the keyboard plugin out of it and see if it will work with the newest version.

edit: OK, just read the post from the VNC topic. It's not in the keyboard plugin, so getting an older plugin version won't help. For anyone that finds this in the future, here's a link to the post.
