Help with HID device (USB Phone)

Post by RDPearson »

Hi all

I have a Yealink USB-P4K telephone. I use Nortel Softphone 2050 to access the switchboard at work. The phone came with a little app Nortelmate to link between the hardware and the softphone software. However this piece of code is very very basic. The numbers 1-9 work and that is it. No ringing on the phone. I also need to use my mouse to click on the line to answer a call or before I can make a call. This is obviously not ideal.

My thoughts were to use EventGhost to capture the phone keypresses and remap them to other keys which I can then use the softphone software to remap those keystrokes to certain phone functions.

In EventGhost I have added "Plugin: HID: Yealink Network Technology Ltd. VOIP USB Phone". If I press any keys on the phone EventGhost doesnt show any of them. If I unplug the phone then the software shows that it has lost connection to the device and it goes red. If the other software (Nortelmate) is running then I can see all sorts of info scrolling up in Eventghost as it is talking to the phone. However most of these are errors. Invalid index for dataindextype xxx/63. There are loads of different numbers there in xxx (63/104/112/113/116/118 and loads more). There is also 1 repeated non error HID.Button.1+4+8+32+33+34+ and it goes on with a lot more + and numbers. Soon as I close Nortelmate all these errors stop.

I am using the latest ver of EventGhost 0.3.7.r1194 on Windows XP SP3.

I am pulling my hair out here just tring to get basic telephone functionality working. I was expecting this to be a rather straighforward excercise but it seems it is not. I use the EventGhost software on my media center PC to manage the remote control and I got that working without too many issues.

If anybody has any ideas that might help me get this working I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
Richard
