Thanks!
smolesen wrote: One thing however....

Is there a way to have all the events from the normal MCE remote controller go to MCE and all other events to show up in EventGhost?

Or do I (somehow?) map all events in EventGhost?
With this plugin installed, you can't have the OS handle the remote only for MCE. So yes, you need to have the events mapped in EventGhost. That being said, we can make that easy, by creating an MCE plugin. Check out this thread

Is anybody having good success blasting with this method. I have complete control of my whole system right now, but am lacking the blasting ability. Have looked at LM Remote Keymap, but prefer EG(especially with all the customization I have already done). Just missing that one critical component and wondering if this method is working for anybody.

It is generally working quite well for me (even with my crappy home-made blaster cable), and I am sure, for many others.

I'll have to give it another go. Could not get my receiver to recognize any of the learned codes. And learning codes was hit or miss as well. Learned codes were often different for the same key each time they were learned.

JitterJames what brands have you learned from and blasted to?

as far as blasting goes, just my westinghouse 37" lcd tv. and an old hitachi tube tv. I don't actually use anything else any more that has a remote. My amp is an old NAD 2 channel and every thing else is handled by the computer.

did you try the latest version of the plugin? you have to hold the remote very close to the receiver when in learn mode.

if your codes are changing that may be a feature of the device you are trying to blast. there is probably a way around it, and if so, I'm sure someone has figured it out already.

Noob question - bear with me. I cant seem to get my reciever to get any sort of information translated to EG in windows 7 ultimate. The reciever is not branded in anyway, its USB.

EG actually sees it, I get five system.DeviceRemoved and System.DeviceAttached on unplugging and replugging and thereby get the vid and pid info, but nothing at all shows up on pressing any of the remotes i own.

Its recognised in device manager as a

Can anyone please help out with any info, ive been trying lots of configurations and different drivers, and i have sadly now doubleposted.

UAC is off
Event ghost 0.3.7 r1194
win 7 7600

I have the same problem.
First it didn't work. Than it worked for a couple of weeks. And than, out of nowhere, it stopped working.
I've tried both the plugins for the mce, but none of them works.

Which steps must I follow?
I have a clean windows 7 Ultimate installation.

Thanks in advance!

@Ronny/g0x,

To be perfectly honest, EG is not set up very well to help troubleshoot remotes. Ideally there would be a database with different devices (hid/usb/mce) which would provide recommended plugins. While we are at it, there would IDEALLY be working plugins to support all devices.

Sadly, this doesn't exist. So troubleshooting a remote takes a LOT of work (especially given the developers don't own the equipment in question), and can require writing a new plugin - if the information required is even available.

My recommendation is to buy one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

That's the MCE remote I used to develop the MCE_Vista plugin. At $25 (US $) it's pretty reasonable, and includes one blaster.

Sorry I can't be more help right now,

first it worked for me, using the MCE_Vista plugin, so I don't think it's my hardware setup.

I think I do something wrong installing the service

That makes it even harder to help!

Uninstall the MceRemote_Vista service, then uninstall the receiver driver for the OS. At that point you should be able to install the OS drivers again by rebooting and plugging in the receiver.

Once you have the remote working correctly without EG, then try the MceRemote plugin/service again.

I have a clean windows 7. So the remote works properly without EG.

How must I install the service, by running the .msi or by opening the plugin in EG and clicking install service?

Opening the plugin in EG and clicking install service is probably easiest.

I have done that. And after that restarted windows.
I use the newest version of the Vista plugin from the first post of this topic.
I don't need the old plugin I assume?
UAC is disabled (lowest option).

The led in my IR receiver blinks if I push a button on my remote. But nothing shows up in the EG log.
Is there something I do wrong?

Sounds right.

Nope

This shouldn't be necessary with this plugin.

What does it say in the log when the plugin starts?

No problem. Hopefully we can get some better troubleshooting tools at some point.
