Vox Commando - Voice Commands
Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
just to clarify... i created those "special words" so that nothing else which "sounds" the same is recognized.
i've trained the words while the windows speech recognition was running.. and then i clicked on "own wordlist" ( i don't know how they write it in the english version... since i'm running german now)
after that i specified the word to be trained like "vc_m_beamerufemasus" and then i recorded my voice in the next step saying "beamer on asus" in my own native language.
and again... it is successfully recognized in wordpad... but it never shows up in vox commando... therefore i'm suspecting, that vox commando can't "access" my own trained words?!

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
if I replace my xml file with yours and reopen vox I can use the xbox command and it works, so I'm not sure what is happening with your german version of the engine, or your accent.
you say that it is recognizing some english words when you try to execute the xbox command. what words is it showing?

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
lol.. i can send you the recording... no problem... but first... just let me know:
Is vox commando "able" to use the "speech dictionary" of windows 7 ? did you just say: vc_m_xboxufembeamer in english and it got recognized ?
have you tried training a special word (like "lkjslkjlkjsdlfkjlksd") with the "speech dictionary" and then recording your voice saying "thisisatest123" --> meaning the word "lkjslkjlkjsdlfkjlksd"
and after that... does voxcommando recognize "lkjslkjlkjsdlfkjlksd" if you say "thisisatest123" ?
thank you very much for your support.

the only time it uses the windows 7 dictionary is if you build a command using payload dictation.
eg:
Code: Select all
<command name="Google">
<phrase>search web for,google search</phrase>
<payloadDictation />
</command>I have trained it with words like "jitterjames" that it normally would have interpreted as a combination of other words. I only need to do that if I want to use it in a payload dictation. If it is part of a command I just write the phrase in vox as jitterjames and it works without training.
I think I am not understanding how you are using vox, and maybe you are just using it wrong, and there is an easy fix by changing your approach.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I don't view it as "support". I see it more as two people having fun trying to solve a puzzle together. I only wish we could be in the same room sharing a couple of beers while we do it. It would certainly make it easier to understand what is actually happing at your end.thank you very much for your support.
Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
hehe... well.... it depends on how much beer has already left the table
My main problem is simply... that the german speech recognition is a pain in the a**. So i though.. hmm... i only need a few commands like "xbox on beamer"... so why not train those commands with my own voice meaning a "special" word.... and use that to trigger vox commando.
if i understood you correctly.... i could build a command which is using an empty dictation payload and use my "special vc_m_....." command as the phrase, and then it should work ?
let me just quickly try it!

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
ok. I trained windows to recognize when I say "xyzxyz" that it means "thisisatst".
It then works either as a command or a payload.
That is, if I create a vox phrase "thisisatst" and then say "xyzxyz" it triggers the command. But I don't see a reason to do this.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I think this is the heart of the problem, but it should be something we can work around. How exactly is it a pain? Does it work at all for doing dictation in German? Can you give me some examples of the problems? My main problem is simply... that the german speech recognition is a pain in the a**.
Does it work with special characters; umlauts etc?
Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
first of all... i would prefer to talk english.... but my wife won't
it just does not recognize what i say in german.
but hold on... somehow i've managed so that vox commando recognizes "vc_m_xboxufembeamer".... but it does not send the event to eventghost.... i think this is the confident level right ?
is there a way i could display what confident level has been "triggered" ?

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I'm looking into it. Vox does display the confidence level in the log (along with alternate possibilities), but only when it thinks it has recognized a phrase.
Do you have both the german and english sapi installed?

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
try this version. It displays the confidence in the info window, and in the log. (but the log gets cleared when a command is confidently recognized)
when you first launch vox it lists installed languages in the log. I'm pretty sure it uses whatever is marked as default in the speech control panel - advanced speech options.
Maybe it will work better if you set it to english, even if you are using german words.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I'm pretty excited to be able to post the new version of VoxCommando. Version 0.6 can be found in the first post of this thread. I've also included an updated version of the broadcaster plugin, and I'll explain why in a second.
There are quite a few changes which I'll cover in the next couple of posts but the most important change is that we can now control vox using udp messages (via the eventGhost plugin broadcaster). I have removed the ability to control vox using windows messages. There are 3 reasons why this is good.
1) I have added the ability to minimize Vox to the notification area so you aren't wasting space on your taskbar. I could not find a way to send messages to vox when it was minimized though and the udp messaging solves that limitation.
2) It will be easier to create more complex commands and in future versions I will add the ability to create menu grammars on the fly by sending xml strings from eventGhost via udp. Simple commands are more readable since we are sending commands like Vox.Off instead of using numbers.
3) You can control vox from computers other than the one Vox is running on. In some cases this could come in handy.
The broadcast commands are set up using Vox as the command, and various strings for the payload. eg (On,Off,Standby,Single,EndSingle)
here's an example macro, remember to install the new broadcaster plugin first.
The new broadcaster plugin is required because it allows eventGhost to send UDP messages on a port that is different from the one it is listening on.
so you need to:
- set up Vox to send to the port that EG is listening on
- set up EG to listen on the port that Vox is sending on.

so you need to:

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I've simplified the modes somewhat as well and added pretty icons to match. The icons change in the taskbar and notification area as well so you can tell a a glance.
On - Green Icon - Vox is listening and executing commands
Off - Red Icon - Vox is not listening at all and you cannot wake it up using voice commands. Grammars are in memory and ready to go instantly.
Standby - Yellow Icon - Vox is not issuing commands but is listening and processing what you say. Vox can be turned on with the "listen" voice command.
there is a new feature called prefix mode. You have the option of turning it on, and choosing the prefix. When in Standby (yellow) mode you can still issue commands by first saying the prefix. So if you set the prefix to "felix", you could say "felix play" and vox would fire the play event.
This video shows how it works with a slightly older version (something like Vox 0.58) it should give you an idea of how prefix mode works and what vox can do.
