I am unsure if this is related to Eventghost, the driver, or something else, but my Firefly only responds to every other keypress. In other words, I have to push pause twice to pause.
I have two remotes, but only one receiver, both remotes do this. I have had the remotes for awhile, reconfiguring my HTPC many times, and have never seen this. I recently moved back to XP after experimenting with Windows 7. It is after this that I have first seen the problem. I feel I setup my system exactly the same as I always do so don't know what is wrong.
I have tried the Firefly drivers, and the X10 drivers from this site, and the Windows Update site. Drivers don't matter, it acts the same.
I hope someone has some ideas. I am ready to clean install XP again as I have run out of ideas.
Thanks.

Tried new batteries?

Tried new ones, and old ones.
Re: Firefly responds to every other keypress
I restaged Windows and found my other Firefly receiver. Installed the driver from the eventghost site, plugged it in, installed Eventghost, and it is still doing it.
Re: Firefly responds to every other keypress
If anyone ever has the same issue, I installed the complete firefly driver which includes Beyond Media Basic. When I asked, I chose not to launch Beyond Media. My system acts like it has the base driver on it, however, it responds to each keypress. I never had to do this before, but at least it works.
Re: Firefly responds to every other keypress
Your post was well timed; I just built a new HTPC (currently Windows XP Pro 32-bit SP3) and even though I liked the Firefly remote, I didn't want to run their software for it. I've heard alot about EventGhost so here I am!aarb00 wrote:If anyone ever has the same issue, I installed the complete firefly driver which includes Beyond Media Basic. Anyway, I uninstalled the Firefly software from Add/Remove programs, installed the X10 drivers from this site and then installed EventGhost. After adding the X10 plugin, I was getting *every other keypress* registered in the event log. Strange. But it was consistent and with every button on the remote. So then I found your post.
After reading it, I re-ran the setup for the Snapstream Firefly software. Then I right-clicked on their logo in by the system clock and quit it. Then I re-ran EventGhost. I not consistently get every single keypress, the first time. I guess both drivers are needed?
Only issue I see is that for whatever reason, my Up and Down volume controls are backwards...
Thanks,
Tom
