stottle wrote:You need to add an MCE device to the harmony using the harmony software. Basically what you do to add a new DVD or stereo, just pick an MCE computer instead. It should then be able to transmit the MCE IR signals.
Just tried it in my Logitech Harmony Remote Software (7.6.0) and am unsure of how to add the MCE... The closest I found was Add Device->Computer->Media Center PC->Microsoft (and then I type in "Windows Media Center"). Is that it?

What's the benefit of adding the MCE device again? I forgot! :)

Assuming I get this added... Then what?

Okay, so I've got my remote (Harmony 890 Advanced) mostly working with USBUIRT and EventGhost 0.3.7r1387 on Windows XP Pro SP3.

The only problem I am currently facing is that when I press a key on my remote that sends {Right} or {Left}, it double-sends. I am in exclusive mode, and there is only one definition in the context for {Right} or {Left}. Where else could the problem lie?

Once this is solved, I can finally swap in my USBUIRT & EventGhost! I appreciate any guidance.

does this happen with all plugins or only some... could be the plugin you are using.
setup... XBMC, W7MC for DVR & Live OTA TV, JRMC for multi-zone audio, EG, MiCasaVerde Vera3, USB-UIRT IR receiver, Harmony remote, 5.2 home theater system

Thanks for your reply. It is happening with NO plugin... It's a custom context that I've done manually. Please see attached screenshots (don't worry that USB-UIRT plugin is throwing an error... I own it, but it is disconnected until I can get this resolved).

Please let me know of any questions, and thanks for the assistance.

does the log show 2 exact same IR commands (double receive)?
does the same thing happen when using the keyboard?

Thanks for your assistance!

Will check it out this evening (once I get home) and report back. Is there anything else I can/should try?

As Livin is pointing out, we don't know enough to tell where the problem is. My best guess is that the codes are really being sent by the Harmony - but I can't tell for sure. There's an option in the USB-UIRT config (within EG) "Pass short repeat codes as enduring events". I have this checked, and it seems to help this type of situation.

If that doesn't help (or was already set), let us know how many events show up in the event log.

I am at my USB-UIRT/EG install right now. It DOES appear that the key-codes are being sent twice, so I attempted to enable the Configuation item "Pass short repeat codes as enduring events" for USB-UIRT (it had been UNCHECKED), per Brett's suggestion. When I checked that item, the following appeared in the log:

Error starting plugin: USB-UIRT
Traceback (most recent call last) (1387):
File "C:\Program Files\EventGhost\eg\Classes\PluginInfo.py", line 362, in Stop
File "C:\Program Files\EventGhost\plugins\USB-UIRT\__init__.py", line 241, in __stop__
File "C:\Program Files\EventGhost\plugins\USB-UIRT\__init__.py", line 296, in SetConfig
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'UUIRTSetUUIRTConfig'

I am using EventGhost 0.3.7.r1387. I restarted and the error did not appear, and the configuration item remained CHECKED.

The BAD news is that the double-sending problem persists. Help!

Maybe try restarting the machine?

BTDT. Same situation.

Oh, and pressing the keys on the keyboard (not the remote) works as expected -- no double-keys.

In case it might help, I'm attaching my configuration XML for perusal/comment. It's my first attempt (and is incomplete right now), so I welcome any suggestions.

I've currently got Logitech's Harmony Remote Software 7.60 installed (but not running -- no tray icon). I think I need it installed because it's within that program that I added the MCE remote. Right?

Only other suggestion I have is to download a different MCE Remote to your harmony. I've had some devices that were flaky, and I've tried different MCE remotes on my harmony and gotten different IR codes.

If anyone has time/inclination to review my XML (above) to make sure I'm not making some bonehead mistake (not out of the question!), I'd appreciate it. If that doesn't reveal mistakes, I will add a different MCE remote...

Thanks!

Any comments on my XML? I'm still encountering the problem...

I've got Logitech's Remote software (7.6.0) and EventGhost installed and still getting double-presses in BeyondTV... I'd love to get this solved!
