Windows Version: Windows XP Pro SP3
Hi, I grabbed the HP IR Receiver that was recommended by an avid poster at AVSForum. This is the IR Receiver I'm dealing with here: http://laptopparts.vivotechnology.net/i ... id=866635
I couldn't get it to work in Windows XP Pro out of the box. I guess XP Pro doesn't support it directly. After a lot of doing I got it to install correctly and have moved on to configuring event ghost and am hoping someone here would be willing to answer a few questions.
Sometimes when I press keys on the remote there is no response anywhere (even in event ghost). I don't know how to troubleshoot what might be causing this. I couldn't find any app that would show me the raw data as it comes through the IR receiver. The behavior seems to be sporadic though. Sometimes for minutes at a time the controller commands are responsive and none are missed. Then one minute later NONE of the button pushes are recognized by event ghost at all! Almost like Event Ghost is too busy to listen to the commands? The CPU isn't too busy on the computer so I don't know. If I wait a few seconds (30 or so) suddenly the buttons are all working again. The IR receiver has an LED indicator when it receives a signal and I see the LED light up reliably, even when EG isn't logging the button push.
I seem to be unable to program the remote to work as it does through the xbox for XBMC which is the media center application I am using. For instance on the xbox, when navigating the interface the "menu" button goes back to the home screen but when watching a video the menu button brings up the DVD control box. I expected XBMC to interpret the button differently depending on the current state of the application but it is not. If I map the menu button to both commands in the XBMC plugin it works fine in the menu navigation, but it executes both commands when watching a video which causes the video to drop and it brings me back to the XBMC main menu.
When I try to set a repeat option in Event Ghost by choosing "Autorepeat current macro" for say, the "Up" command in XBMC it repeats as expected for a second or so, but then it repeats infinitely even after releasing the button. I actually have to end task on EG to get it to stop repeating. This happens whether I have XBMC open or not.
When I try to set the "Display" button to toggle full screen in XBMC when pressed and released quickly, but when held for 3 seconds cause the PC to standby by using the EG feature "Jump if long press" it seems to work correctly since holding the "Display" button for 3 seconds causes the computer to standby and pressing and releasing it quickly causes it to toggle full screen, except if you wait two more seconds after the toggle full screen action it also goes into standby
Appreciate any help.
