EG doesn't recognize IR emitted by MCE Remote anymore

Post by slick2000 »

ok, I screwed up something

after installing, uninstalling, reinstalling EG .. and so on, in the main window there's no sign of IR intercepting,
for EG my MCE remote does not exist.

Tried with latest stable release, with latest beta and even tried with the drivers in this thread:
New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I have Win 7 HP 32bit, at first EG was doing fine during the "learning" process between the XBMC plugin and the MCE remote plugin, but after doing .. (?) something, EG doesn't "see" the MCE remote anymore.

After every uninstall I removed the EG folder deleting the DLL inside, tried to enable / disable the HID with no luck.

"Maybe" something has happened after Media Portal installation ?

BTW I'm looking for a way to make EG working again :(
is there some registry entry to delete ? Some DLL to replace / delete / restore ?

thanks, Nik

I'm having the exact same problem. (USBCIR - "eHome Infrared Receiver")

Quite literally, I went to bed last night, and it was working fine.

When I woke up this morning, no such luck.

I run Windows 7 x64 as an administrator, with UAC disabled.

It's been working for literally months, with no problems until now.

Nothing shows up in my Eventghost log when I use the remote.

The light on my receiver stays on, like it's receiving data, but nothing is happening in Eventghost (tried disabling/re-enabling HID mode, with a reboot after each, to no avail).

Per a post on this thread, I tried plugging two pairs of headphones into the ports on the back of the receiver. Strangely enough, this turned off the always-on light on the receiver, but there's still nothing happening in EG.

Just rebooted with the headphones plugged in, and all is working. Unplugged them, and everything appears to be working just fine.

So there's a strange answer for ya. :)

No idea what caused it, but hey, rock on.

 Why didn't I think of that?
