Help using (Acowin AURC-001) USB IR receiver with EG

Post by hkeiner »

I bought one of the cheap Acowin Industries AURC-001 remotes on ebay (see below link) mostly for the USB IR receiver. The included remote worked fine out of the box (without installing any drivers for the IR receiver) but I don't like the feel and layout of this remote much and would like to pair a different remote with the USB IR reciever. Perhaps my Comcast cable remote or my Samsung TV remote.

I am new to Event Ghost but it seems to be the tool for doing this type of thing. I read the Event Ghost documentation and I am sure I can figure things out (configure) once I can get Event Ghost to recognize the USB IR receiver and any IR signals sent by my alternate remote. I tried putting various plugins that come with the standard Event Ghost install in the "starup" area of Event Ghost, but none of them seemed to enable this IR receiver, as best that I can tell.

Any thoughts/suggestions to get me started?

Thanks

PC: Acer Revo R3610 (ION 330)
OS: Windows XP Sevice Pack 3
EG: EventGhost 0.3.7.r1436

that's a weird remote!

I would try two plugins:

1 - the microsoft mce remote. Note that there is one for xp and another one for vista/w7

2 - generic HID

to know if the plugin is working, try pushing buttons on the remote and look in the log window (left side of EG screen) to see if events are being generated.
