I am new to Eventghost so hopefully this is an easy fix and something I'm not aware of yet.
I just started using eventghost a few evenings ago setting up my remote to work with Media Portal and Media Player Classic. I have a USB UIRT receiver and my OS is WinWP pro SP3. I had everything working the way I wanted, and saved the configuration. However, next time I opened EG with the config file, I get the error "Application is not running!" when I press any of the keys that had previously worked. Ex:
MediaPortal: Cursor Right
Application is not running!
USB_UIRT.Mce.Left
Cursor Left
MediaPortal: Cursor Left
Application is not running!
USB_UIRT.Mce.Right
Cursor Right
MediaPortal: Cursor Right
Application is not running!
Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks for any help and support.

Application is not running!
Re: Application is not running!
Obvious question first, is MediaPortal running?
It looks like you have the macros created and set to trigger actions for MediaPortal. However, the plugin seems to assume MediaPortal has already been started. When it can't find a MediaPortal window it reports "Application is not running!". If that's the case, start MediaPortal and enjoy the good life! You can also assign an event to an action that starts MediaPortal if you want....

My guess is that you did not note the note
Re: Application is not running!
Upon further checking, I assumed that my other apps weren't working also, but apparently just Media Portal is not working. You're right in the fact that "Application is not working" is not displayed when MP is run, and it logs the remote button strokes, however it is not working with the remote. I can get MP working with my remote by learning commands directly with MP.
The plugins for Media Player Classic, Winamp and Power DVD are working, but want MP to with EG so I can enable and disable, which is another problem I'm having. I can execute exclusive by right clicking the action and selecting execute, however it won't work with the remote button. Am I missing a step? Thanks again for any info and support.

Re: Application is not running!
You should switch between application folders automatically with task plugin and not with a button. It should work with a button press though
Re: Application is not running!
Not to sound totally dumb, but how? I installed the task create/switch events plugin, but I don't know what to do with it? This is all new to me. Thanks again!
Re: Application is not running!
You get an event when ever an application starts or exits and when the active application change.
So assign Task.Activated.playerXYZ to enable the folder for playerXYZ exclusively

Read this thread to get an idea, specifically the last reply.deewrench wrote:Not to sound totally dumb, but how? I installed the task create/switch events plugin, but I don't know what to do with it? This is all new to me. Thanks again!

Thank you to all for the info. I'm not completely there yet, but getting there the more I experiment. Thanks also for the link to the thread.
