I want to use the Xbox DVD Kit IR receiver on my PC with eventghost. I have read that that an adapter cable is needed for this because the connector on the Xbox IR receiver is USB but not with a standard USB connector. I believe that the standard USB end needs to be a MALE connector and that the Xbox end needs to be a FEMALE connector. I found a variety of adapter cables on ebay and want to be sure that I get the right one. I think that the adapter cable shown in my pic below is the correct one but I am not sure about the Xbox end. The discription in the ad might make it obvious ot others, but I am not sure if the IR receiver is considered an "Xbox controller" for this purpose.

Yep, that looks like a right kind of adapter cable.
Since you are buying new stuff, for a better solution I would recommend getting a separate IR product like USB-UIRT.
My next system will probably be built using an IR over IP module, such as the Keene electronics IR anywhere. That kind of setup offers much more versatility and ruggedness. With something like MCE remotes and these XBOX hacks there can easily be problems with the drivers. Especially if you are running some other OS than a 32bit Windows XP.
