Cyberlink PowerDVD

Post by deewrench »

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD ver. 7.3 which came with an LG internal Dvd/Bluray i just purchased. I can start PowerDVD and even navigate the menu left or right, however the play, pause, stop, FF, Rew and porbably other functions if I add don't work. Is there a certain version that should be used with the plugin that came with Eventghost? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Best I can suggest is you look in the plugin code (the __init__.py file (which is plain text) in the plugin folder) and see what keys it is sending and compare those keys with whatever keys you need to press to run play, ff, etc..

If they are different, either change them yourself or request an update in the plugins forum thread.

I I think that's beyond me. I don't know how to check the code. Can you explain that to me so that Ican check. I can start Powerdvd via the remote, it will play when I first press play, and it will allow me to select the menu items such as play, scene, special, etc. all with the remote. But once the movie starts, I've lost all control. I even had the movie playing and tried to execute play, pause, stop, etc. directly from EG without the remote, and it still wouldn't work. Any more help or ideas is greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Hi deewrench,

I have exactly the same comportement with the PowerDVD version embeded with an LG BR disc reader. It appears only with some BlueRay Disc (perhaps with dvd too but i don't use it for watching dvd).

This problem is very frustrating !! I think this issue is not due to EventGost but due to this very bad software PowerDVD. You can check that keybord shortcut doesn't work too.

I think that it appears with Blue Ray dick which propose they own navigation system.

But as no freeware are able to play BR due to BR specifications, i have to use PWDVD. Switching to an other version is very expensive adn i don't want to crack it !!

Thanks for the post. Do you think that another PowerDVD version would work? Not that I want to buy another version, but if I knew that another version would work, I probably would seriously consider it. EG states it supports versions 7 & 8. I wonder if it would support the latest version 9? Or which exact 7 or 8 versions it supports as it doesn't work with this 7.3 version. If you find out how to make EG work with PowerDvd I would appreciate letting me know. Any info from anyone regarding this is greatly apprciated. Thanks, Don

I haven't tried an other version of this software. The last version of Power dvd costs about 70Ôé¼, i'm not ready to buy it.

But if you want to buy it, no problem. Even if the plugin is not compatible, you can send keyboard's shortcuts with eventghost (that's the same).

Tell me if you find a way to play all BR with a remote via EG.

Hello,

I encountered exactly the same problem here: WIN 7 Ultimate, PowerDVD Ultra v8 and EventGhost + LG internal BR/HD DVD player. I have MCE IR receiver + Logitech Harmony One (same happened with original MCE remote too). In Mad Men Season 2 BR everything worked fine until I started to watch the movie. After that there was no possibility to control the playout with the remote.

Is there any solution available for this problem?
