Issue with using MCE Remote for XBMC in Windows 7

First off - apologies for my ignorance. That being said, here's the problem.

My MCE Remote works fine with the computer, and even with Windows Media Center. The only problem with that is that I don't want it to. I want it to work for XBMC, and once I open the program it does. The problem is that when I press the Start button on the MCE Remote, it opens Windows Media Center instead of XBMC (I just upgraded from XP and never had this problem before using the same .xml file and everything). I've googled the problem but haven't come up with any results, and I'm hoping someone here can help. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the OS drivers are running and no remote events are handled by EG. Assuming you are on Vista or Win7 (since you upgraded from XP), check out the new MCE plugin. It includes a configuration option to change install a service to capture remote events but also remove the registry keys that start the OS handling of the remote. You need to restart after you run the install.

I tried to do this (and I'm aware that there's a distinct possibility I did it wrong) and it just made the remote stop working altogether. I'm using Windows 7 32-bit if that makes any difference...

The remote should "stop working" because the OS isn't responding anymore. But EventGhost should get events from the remote, or it should have a few messages about the remote not responding. What did you get in the log after the install?
