Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I can try.
- What version of windows are you running?
- are you able to use eventGhost to control winamp using a remote.
- are you able to use the built in speech recognition in windows to do dictation etc?
In the time you spent trying to get it to work, what did you do and did you get any of it to work. Maybe then we can figure out what part isn't working.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
ok, that's a good start.
do you have the broadcaster plugin installed and working in eventGhost?
this one:
http://www.eventghost.org/forum/downloa ... hp?id=1304
check the settings for the plugin and the settings in vox to make sure they match. (see attached images)

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
OK Good.
1 - Vox should be in the "On" mode and the background should be green.
2 - If your Microphone is set up correctly and Vox is able to hear you, you should see the green bar on the right move when you talk.
3 - Vox should show some words here based on what it can hear you say.
4 - if you say a command that Vox recognizes it should then generate an event in the eventGhost Log window, the same as if you pressed a button on your remote.
Check these 4 things and let me know. I don't know if you changed the command tree in Vox but the default setup should already have basic commands like:
play, pause, stop, etc. If you think you may have messed up the command tree, you can just replace "voicecommands.xml" with the one from the zip file.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
OK good. Vox seems to be processing the command OK. It looks like the problem is somewhere between VoxCommando and the broadcast plugin.
1st check the plugin settings for EG broadcaster.
- make sure that "respond to self broadcast" is checked*.
- check the "listening address" pull down. I think you want the one that starts with 192.168.
See if that works. If not, try disabling your firewall temporarily to see if it is blocking the udp packets from getting through.
* I assume that you are running VoxCommando on the same computer as EventGhost.

I checked respond to self broadcast and it was on.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
did you also try to disable (temporarily) your firewall to see if that made a difference?
I think it has something to do with your IP address. A local area network address usually starts with 192.168
Yours looks like a Wide area network address, like the address of your modem on the internet. I am guessing that you somehow connect directly to a modem and are not going through any kind of router.
Try sending a broadcast using the broadcaster action in eventghost. Make sure you are sending on the same port that the plugin is set to listen to. See if that shows up in the log.
If that doesn't work then maybe you should try posting on the broadcaster forum and see if someone there has an idea.

Sorry you are having troubles. I can't think of anything else, and I'm not a networking expert.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I have an idea for another solution for you. If you cannot get the broadcaster plugin to work, then I could make another version of VoxCommando that does not use UDP broadcasts, but instead calls eventghost using the commandline. I think using udp is better for a number of reasons but this would work too. Simple commands will work for sure, but I might have a problem with payloads (the extra data that comes after the event - eg. with "set volume 50" the command is "set volume" and the payload is "50".
The only problem is that it would take me a little while to set it up, and I'm a bit busy right now, so you would have to wait a bit. I think this is a good idea anyway in case others have this problem so I will make it an option in the next release.
I would also like to make TCP and option, but I don't know much about it so I would have to do some research first. That probably won't be happening any time soon.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
OK great. Let me know how it goes, or if you need any further help.
I hope you enjoy it.
Remember that windows speech recognition does not need to be running at the same time for VoxCommando to work.

Re: Vox Commando - Voice Commands
I created an XML file for XBMC. Ultimately I would like to have Vox Commando process a query to play a artist, but this would require a SQL query to query the XBMC database and I'm not familar with SQL. Anyone have ideas on how to do this?
