Cannot get UIR / Irman plugin initialised

Hi,
I'm new here and am trying to get EventGhost working in combination with my old (but very sensitive) Irman ir reciever.
I'm on Windows 7 and the Irman is linked with my PC through a USB to serial adaptor.
Girder 3.29b (the last freeware version from 2003) works ok in this set up.

When I execute the UIR / Irman plugin I get the errors:

      Error starting plugin: UIR / Irman

      Unable to initialise device!

A couple of times I got it running by making alterations to my system:
- disabling the firewall : It worked, but not anymore after a system restart
- Installing EventGhost in another folder (not in the Win 7 protetected C:\Program Files\) : It worked, but not anymore after a system restart
- First starting and closing Girder : It worked, but not anymore after a system restart.

Further I have experimented with the settings of the Win7 UAC and running EventGhost in WinXP sp2 compatibilty mode but without results.

Are there other solutions, can somebody please help me?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem dinodisc?

I have the exact same issue. I recently upgraded my box from Win XP to Win 7 Ultimate x64. Everything was working fine on XP, but on 7 I get the 'Unable to initialize device!' message when trying to start up my HomeElectronics Ira-3 serial device that uses the same driver as the Irman device.

Thanks to your post I was able to get it working for now by starting Girder first, closing Girder and then running EventGhost. Obviously this is not a long term solution. I would like to stay with EventGhost as it works well once it has the device initialized.

Can anyone provide any advice?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem dinodisc?

No madcap, I did not, I gave up.
I am completely puzzled, especially by the "learning effects" with prohibit functioning after initial succes.

As the problem only occurs in a Win7-EventGhost combination and not in XP-EventGhost (which I never tried but you did) and not in Win7-Girder3, I hope new versions of software, plugin and/or driver will solve the problem in the near future.
Until then I am still on Girder3 although I like the ease and flexibility of EventGhost.

Unfortunately, starting Girder first, closing Girder and then running EventGhost does only work for "one Windows session". Nice it works for you.
