I am using EG 0.3.7.r1462 and the MC IR transceiver that came with my Hauppauge 1800. I have not installed any Hauppauge software. I can control MC fine with my URC MX-850 universal remote. I want to be able to change the resolution and playback device on my HTPC to be able to use a second TV with an HDMI connection. I figured this is what EG is designed for. I turned off UAC and got the MC plugin to function. I did not download the MC Beta plugin. However, I have several questions.
1. I can no longer control MC with the remote except for the mapped keys. Is this the way EG works? Must I remap all of the MC keys with EG? Or is there a way to continue to use the remote with the buttons that work without EG and also use the mapped buttons to change the res and audio device?
2. I perused the 21 pages of the MC beta plugin and I am confused as to the status. Does the most recent EG include the up to date Win 7 MC plugin? Or is it still required to download it and install separately? I believe the plugin negates the need to turn off UAC? Is this the main reason for the MC beta plugin?

EG with WMC remote
Re: EG with WMC remote
Yes, yes, no.RonZimmerman wrote:1. I can no longer control MC with the remote except for the mapped keys. Is this the way EG works? Must I remap all of the MC keys with EG? The Vista/Win7 plugin needs to be downloaded separately. You don't need to turn off UAC, plus with the Beta you can receive signals from non-MCE remotes, plus it has the transmit capability.RonZimmerman wrote:2. Re: EG with WMC remote
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess this plugin is still in beta. Are there still problems with focus?

Re: EG with WMC remote
Also, I see there are two threads. One has the MCE.zip in the plug in beta forum and the other is MCERemoteVista20090907 file in the general forum. Sounds like the Vista one is pretty old. I assume the MCE beta MCE.zip is for Windows 7? I thought MCE stands for Media Center Edition for XP?
Re: EG with WMC remote
The MceRemote plugin is to get the IR signals into EG as events so EG can respond. This just gives you the events, you can trigger whatever actions you want with them.
The MCE plugin has mappings so you can control MCE from EG events, using any remote to trigger events.
