Controlling different applications

Hi,

I need a few pointers to get started, so please bear with me for a moment. I have searched but I have not found...

I have an Asus Eeebox EB1501 (the version with built-in IR receiver). The remote that came with the 1501 is this one:

It looks very similar to the Philips 5100 4in1 Vista MCE Remote:

Under the backside battery cover it says "RC-6" (or "RC6").

I would like to be able to control both Windows 7 Media Center (WMC) *and* xbmc with the remote. Currently the problem is to get all buttons to respond in xbmc *and* to avoid eg. that the green button re-starts WMC when xbmc is active. The setup would be something like:
- Start WMC with the green button. In WMC the remote works as usual for WMC.
- In WMC I have "XBMC Windows 7 Media Center Integration 1.0" (http://xbmcwmc.teknowebworks.com/) so that I can start xbmc.
- Once in xbmc all the buttons send commands that xbmc understands. Including the green button, which should go to the xbmc main menu.

1) Is my dream-scenario above even possible?
2) I see statements that it is possible to make EventGhost send different commands/events depending on the currently active program. Basically I guess that I would like EventGhost to "only do something" when xbmc is active. Is it possible and how do I achieve that?

I am sure that this is described somewhere but I can not find it. As I said: I need some pointers, please!

(hmm... Perhaps it would be nice to have the green button start xbmc, not WMC and then have a menu item in xbmc to start WMC instead of having it the other way around. But that's a question for the xbmc forums.)

yes, I think you can do this, if your remote is compatible with MCE remotes, but you will need to install the EG MCE plugin for win7/vista. I don't think this is part of the standard install (only the old XP version is included) so you'll have to find the plugin on the forum (http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtop ... 89&start=0), and create a folder for it in the Program...\EventGhost\plugins directory.

When set up properly that plugin will disable the standard MCE remote functions so you would need to reprogram the remote to work with media center, which could be a pain and probably requires another plugin for controlling media center.

in EventGhost you can create folders in the Macro tree and turn them on and off depending on which program you are running. You can either do this with your remote (i.e. you hit the button for XBMC and it turns on the XBMC part of the tree and turns off the WMC part of the tree, or you can activate the EG plugin called "Task Create / switch events", which is part of the regular install.
