Event Logger not showing X10 address (only x10.On/Off)

Hello,

I am new to EventGhost so it's possible I am overlooking something obvious.

The event logger is showing X10.On and X10.Off whenever I push a button on the X10 palmpad remote, and I am not sure how to use this to send an On or Off command to a specific address. When I use the X10.On event in a macro it responds every time an 0n button is pressed.

I feel like I am missing something simple.

I am using the latest version of EventGhost on a Windows 7 64 bit system.

I really want to use EventGhost and this one thing is hanging me up. I am normally pretty resourceful but there doesn't seem to be any place to get help for this program.

Can someone at least tell me if this is a common problem or something unique? I see many people here are using X10 remotes, so I assume this problem has been worked out already. I don't need my hand held, just a few ideas - a direction.

Or maybe this is the wrong place to look for help? I appreciate the time many people have spent helping others here and I see myself giving back to this community if I can just get my feet off the ground.

Maybe the plugin is made in this way but I also think you should have button Id's there as well

What is the name of the plugin you are using?

I am using the generic X10 plugin that comes with EventGhost. The Palmpad remote sends an RF signal just like the other X10 RF remotes.

How does the event logger normally display the X10 address? Is it like: X10.A4.On or X10.On.A4 or something?

I can get EventGhost macros to respond to X10.On and X10.Off, but that isn't helpful since the address is needed to identify which specific key and RF signal was sent.

I think I'm confused...

Before I can attempt to offer help I'm wondering how your computer/EG is getting the signals from the Palm Pad.

Do you have another device/receiver that allows the PC to listen for the Palm Pad?
If so what is it?

Hi zian,

I am using a CM15a. This connects to the USB port on the computer.

I'm using the older cm17 Firecracker (serial port) so that sct.exe may not work with USB.... not exactly sure.

I do recall when I was trying to set it up long ago that it seemed like there were many more solutions for the USB controls then for the Serial port style.

There are many solutions for the USB? I have only found 1 and it's not working for me (and why I am posting here.) If anybody knows of others then please let me know about them as I would be really happy to try them out.

Your comments are an example of why I feel like I am missing something. Like there is undocumented tribal knowledge on how to get this thing to work or something.

Keep in mind that I cannot even be assured that I have set this up correctly. I don't even know how to know that. I have read everything I can about this and spent many hours searching the forums here and it is probably just something simple that I am overlooking. I assume since I am getting at least some response that I have something set up right, but I don't know what to check next.

You actually have been a help as you are one of the few people to respond. You have basically told me that you have never seen this problem before and that is at least something.

I would not say that others did/do not have problem with the CM15a support in eg. I searched the forum for "CM15a" and there is a long thread about this plugin

Anyway, if you are interested, we need to debug a bit. This can easily be achieved with simple print statements here and there in the python code

In the plugin folder for the CM15a, you find the file __init__.py

Try to add the print statement in the EvenHandler class as the example below. Save & restart eg
Use your remote and you should get print statements in log showing us more the "raw" data
Copy and paste those lines here afterwards and we can start trying to analyse what is actually received
