hi,
Just completed a win 7 upgrade and i treid to install eventghost to get commands via an Irtrans receiver in a Zalman hd160 case. this combination worked fine in win xp.
anyway, after installing irtrans software/driver and eventghost, i added the lirc plugin and i keep receiving this error:
-LIRC Client: Received an erroneous response from the LIRC-server
-Message data: ['Unknown LIRC Command received: VERSION']
irtrans is receiving the command, the icon blinks every time i press a button but the lirc server i guess is not talking to the lirc client properly (my understanding of the error msg)
what could be wrong and is there a fix for this?
all help and suggestions are very much appreciated guys.
regards,
asmd.

EventGhost not logging remote commands Irtans
Re: EventGhost not logging remote commands Irtans
In other words the Lirc Client sent command VERSION to the Lirc server and the server did not understand such command, so it gave back an error response. The only downside to this is that you get the red error line in the log view when you start up the Lirc Client plugin. It's not critical and it should work just fine regardless.
The reason why it sends the VERSION command on startup is because asyncore is broken in such a way that you have to either send or receive some data (such as the version command) before the connected state is updated. And in the Lirc plugin I want to check whether or not the asyncore thread has successfully connected on startup. It's not going to get fixed until I rewrite the Lirc Client plugin using some other networking library.

Hi,
thanks so much for the reply/assistance.
im afraid it doesnt work.
Lirc plugin settings: the images below show irtrans receiving commands (the ones starting with "cam" are the ones i had it learn) but eventghost doesnt log the commands. got my fingers crossed this is something real simple that ive overlooked.

Re: EventGhost not logging remote commands Irtans
Try connecting to the irtrans's lirc-server (tcp port 8765) with a terminal program, such as PuTTY, then press some buttons on the remote. If you see lines being printed to PuTTY then the irtrans should be working and the fault must be in EG. If you don't get anything then you should doublecheck your irtrans setup until you do get output from it.
Re: EventGhost not logging remote commands Irtans
Hi,
thanks for the reply.
i did as you suggested and PuTTy does log the events but Event Ghost doesnt.
Iv attached the screen shot.
this means event ghost is not logging the commands, but the Lirc server is sending them out correctly...
what could the problem be?
what next?
