Can somone here help me ir blast using win7x64 and this plug in...
i'm trying to control my samsung tv using eg,
I have the org. mce plug in and the new mce vista/win7 plug in installed...including the x64 servce..
I added the transmit ir from the mce vista/win7 action menu... and entered a pronto hex for my device.
I have no problems using MCE remote... and log shows button press for both mce remote and any other remote directed toward receiver
my log gives me no errors but any pronto hex i use doesn't work... ir blaster transmiter lights up as if it is working... but device does not respond.

Am i missing something? please help

Did u try learncode instead of pronto? You have to hold the remote quite close when learning codes.

yes, I tried using learncode from the mce vista/win7 transmit option. LED on ir blaster lights up... but no responce from device...

So I've had this plugin working flawlessly for a couple months now. Thanks for that! But for some reason, three days ago and yesterday it crashed. Event Viewer shows the following.

I have the standard HP IR Receiver/Blaster with one blaster cable hooked up to input #2 on the back. I also have a Panasonic plasma tv.

I'm trying to be able to use the MCE remote that came with my HP computer to blast the volume +/- and TV Power Toggle to the tv so that I can avoid buying a Harmony remote. (I already have a few and don't need another for these three actions on this TV.)

In EG the functions I want to transmit to the tv via the blaster (captured from the Panasonic remote) are recognized in the log as mceremote.8485, mceremote.405, and mceremote.bcbd.

What I am wondering is, is there any way to have it just retransmit these MCE commands, or do I need to go find the discrete ccf codes, or try and get the IR capture to work? Seems like if they are already showing up as MCE codes, that the work is done.

Have not been able to get it to work, which is why I am asking here.

This sounds like it is running correctly, but you want to run additional actions. I don't use xbmc, so I would suggest you create a separate thread topic to get some of the xbmc users to suggest solutions.

Thanks Brett. In the meanwhile, the workaround I have found is to configure the AlternateMCEIRService to restart automatically if the service crashes. This way the service starts working again without intervention. Not ideal but will do for the moment.

Anyway, happy to work with you to debug what's going on.

Nuno, did you ever figure out the causes of your crash? I am getting the exact same crash and error messages on Win 7 x64 (using SageTV). This seems to be some kind of bug. I have tried your work around of configuring the AlternateMCEIRService to restart automatically, but that doesn't seem to do the trick for me. I actually have to go into EventGhost, right-click on the Microsoft MCE Remote plugin for Vista/7 and select configure, uninstall the service, and install the service again to resolve the issue. The IR receiver is exposed to occasional button presses from my AV receiver remote, but I don't really see a way to avoid that. Also, it doesn't seem to be related to sleep mode at all. I have had the remote running fine for almost a day and then poof no remote. Any help is appreciated. Let me know if I can submit any logs that will help.

Hello. I am using a pinnacle pctv remote kit, which is supposed to be a standard mce remote. I've installed your alternatemceirservice and it works ok... I can map commands to different applications easily. At the moment I'm only using the xbmc plugin.

However: when I resume from hibernation, eventghost starts receiving double presses... The problem is solved when I restart the alternatemceirservice, then it comes back to normal, single presses. This behaviour is consistent in every time I resume from hibernation.

Has this problem been reported before? Is this related to: eventghost itself, alternatemceirservice plugin, xbmc plugin, my particular brand of remote, or ... or what?

thanks for the very uswful plugin!

On my PC win7-x64 after each reboot i have always manually klick on "uninstall service" and afterwards "install service" for the plugin to react to the remote.
Why does it not work automatically?

Everything works ok for me except... resuming from hibernation results in either double presses or no response from the receiver, I think... Wish I knew how to solve this, I have to manually restart the service every time.

Hi there Brett and all...
long time using this plugin and very satisfied about it...

but recently I bought a new Toshiba LED TV and trying to learn my MCE blasters to turn on and off the TV with no luck.
the plugin learns the IR code , and the blasters "blast" the code, but the TV is not responding to it ( tried to place the blaster in many different locations on the front panel of the TV as well... )

do certain TV sets cannot be controlled by to those IR blaster?

There are a number of things that could be going wrong. The frequency of the TV signal could be out of the range of the Mce receiver/transmitter (RF certainly qualifies!). The signal might be captured correctly (low battery level, extra light noise).

I can't offer a definitive answer, but I can suggest a couple of steps to try to figure out what is going on.

First off, if you can find a good pronto code from remote central, several types of pronto codes can be pasted into the transmit dialog box. That could just fix the problem if that works. Also, if you post what EG detects from the TV's remote (unknown or SIRC or some such event), plus the learned result, I can transmit what you learned from an Mce blaster at my USB-UIRT and see what the USB-UIRT detects. That could help determine if it is learned properly.

Don't know if any of this will lead to a fix, but its the best I can offer.
