Got the receiver from a friend who it worked perfectly for. I installed EG 0.3.7.r1462 in admin mode, ran it, added the MCE plugin, it asked me to reboot because I disabled HID mode. So I rebooted and added the XBMC plugin. I set up my remote the way I wanted, ran XBMC and nothing. I exited and checked and everything was good. So I exited out of EG and when I re-loaded it it wasn't detecting my remote. I started a new config and when I added the MCE plugin, nothing. No matter what button on my remote I press I get no code coming up in the left panel registering the key press. I exited a few more times and reloaded. Did the same thing and it started to pick up my buttons being pressed again, so I re-configured my XBMC and saved the file. Launched XBMC and again nothing worked except the MCE button to launch it. I set the MCE button to launch XBMC and it is doing that, so the remote is working, at least partially.
Running Windows 7 64 with the latest EG + latest XBMC Dharma SVN. Don't think it has a thing to do with XBMC as I can't get EG to see the remote all the time. Remote is an HP something or other that comes with the HDX laptop, it worked good with my Veris IR receiver so I know the remote's okay. The IR receiver doesn't have a brand on it but the model # is HA-UR01SV which came with an MCE remote ordered off Newegg last year. It comes up in my system devices as MS eHome Infrared Transceiver. I'm confused. I was using this receiver at a friends today with his Harmon 880 remote without any issues. Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong here? This should be real simple, and I just can't seem to get it to work.
thanks

MCE IR + HP remote + EG 0.3.7.r1462 = fail?
Re: MCE IR + HP remote + EG 0.3.7.r1462 = fail?
Let me guess, when it worked before, it worked on XP?
There's a known problem with the MceRemote plugin that comes with EG in that on Vista/Win7 it only works in UAC is turned off and the user account has admin rights.
To overcome this, I wrote a new plugin that runs as a service so you only need admin rights to install/uninstall and it runs fine with UAC on and any account. It isn't part of the default download of EG, you need download/install it separately. You can find it here.

*EDIT* reinstalled EG, rebooted, ran the file you linked to, EG no longer gives me warnings about having to reboot when it comes to the HID. But it's still not registering button presses on my remote, oh well...
