Hello all,

I just got my ASRock NetTop ION 330HT and I`m trying to setup my remote with EventGhost. I`ve read everything in this thread but its still not working so I`m gonna explain what I`ve done and hopefully someone can help me

1. Added Plugin: Keyboard, clicked OK
2. Added Plugin: Generic HID (Chose 1 of the 5 devices), clicked OK
3. Tried pressing any number button on my remote, nothing happens in the Log
4. Did step 2 again only this time changing the device. Step 3 happend on each of the 5 devices.

What am I doing wrong? Really appriciate some help

The number buttons are members of the set of buttons that do NOT require the 'Generic HID' plug-in; rather, they trigger *regular keyboard events*.
As such, they do not require an EG plug-in at all, except if you want to redefine what regular keystrokes do (using the Keyboard plug-in)(*).
It is the OTHER buttons (e.g. the transport-control buttons such as Play, Pause, ...) that you need the 'Generic HID' plug-in for.

Thus, if you do have the Keyboard plug-in loaded and number buttons on the remote still don't trigger events, perhaps your remote itself isn't working properly (did you install the drivers from the DVD-ROM that came with the computer?).
To test the number buttons, you could just open Notepad and see if pressing a number button produces the corresponding digit there.

(If you're using EG, also ensure that the check-box 'Log only assigned and activated events', located at the bottom of the log pane in EG, isn't checked.)


(*) Or, less commonly, if you need to distinguish remote-control-generated keystrokes from keyboard-generated keystrokes.
