GIMX stands for Game Input MultipleXer or Game Input MatriX. The purpose of this software is to control a video game console with a PC. It works with the PS3 and there is experimental support for the Xbox 360.
It operates:
¤ over bluetooth: works with Linux (PS3) only. A compatible bluetooth dongle is required.
¤ over usb: works with Linux (PS3, 360) and Windows (PS3). A DIY USB adapter is required.
The application gets data from the PC peripherals (mice, keyboards and joysticks) and sends controls to the PS3 over bluetooth or usb. Other controls such as gesture or voice are possible through the use of external software that emulate PC peripherals.

A command line interface exists via GIMX: http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Command_line

Even though I haven┬┤t tried it myself yet, mapping remote control events to execution of commands via the command line interface should be easy in EG.

Read more about it here: http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Hello,

This is my first post, so please be gentle!

I found a simple solution, because I also wanted to control my PS3 with eventghost...I also have a USB-UIRT.

I found this device: PS3IR-1000 Wireless Infra-red Adapter for PlayStation 3 (USA Kit) on Amazon.com.

How it works, plug it into any usb power source and pair it as a bluetooth controller with your PS3.

Go to their website: http://www.schmartz.com/PS3IR1000-Wirel ... 8S7BZY.htm and download the .xls file called 'PRONTO' codes.

Then you manually enter each USB-UIRT action and simply copy and paste the IR code from the spreadsheet.

Works like a charm! And there are two versions I know of that perform about the same, except the PS3IR-1000 will allow you to power on or off your PS3.

It has been invaluable and actually makes my home automation setup complete.

I hope this helps someone else.
