Tivo Slide Remote with windows 7 MCE

Post by smgoller »

So I picked up a Tivo Slide because I have a Harmony 900 and I'm kinda just done with it. It's slow and things don't always seem to happen. I would like to control the HTPC (Windows 7 Ultimate MCE) as well as the TV, my 360 and the tivo (until I get rid of it completely in favor of MCE). This thread is solely about using the Tivo Slide to control the HTPC.

The Tivo Slide shows up as 6 HID devices, 2 of which seem to grab the majority of the non-keyboard buttons (I use the keyboard plugin for those). Here's a picture, for those not familiar.

Now, when I hit the Guide button on the slide, it generates the scan code for the guide button on MCE remotes. Win 7 sees this and launches MCE automatically. No matter what. Can I disable this functionality somehow, so that I can use EG to manage that button? I'm shooting for using the color buttons as modes to control different devices (yellow == MCE, blue == Tivo, red = 360, etc.) and I don't want the guide button to do anything to the HTPC when I'm in the mode for a different device.

Any thoughts?

Also, I can't seem to get the Clear button (bottom left corner of the top part of the slide) to generate an event in EG at all. Has anyone done this successfully yet?

I have added support for this remote to Intelliremote and I can confirm the Clear button does not send HID ouput no matter what you do. I have a feeling it is a bug int the remote firmware for bluetooth. I bet it works on the actual Tivo but not with the HTPC.

as for disabling the guide button it is easy....

See this thread for the solution:
