Event Ghost, USB-UIRT & Windows Home Server v2 (Vail)

Post by ceeps »

I am running EventGhost 0.3.7.r1462 on a machine with WHS v2 (Vail) as the OS. I am trying to get past a couple of hurdles I have run into. The first is that every time the WHS machine boots up, eventghost doesn't recognize my USB-UIRT until I unplug the cable and then re-plug it into the WHS machine. Any ideas as to what the cause of this may be? In the event ghost log it just says usb-uirt device not found.

The second issue I am having is related to running EventGhost on my WHS machine without having to leave an account logged into the console? Is there any way to do this? I tried to use the srvany hack by running eventghost as a service. That didn't work for me and then I searched here and realized it was already mentioned that event ghost wouldn't run as a service. I also tried using the task scheduler to run eventghost.exe when the machine starts up but I haven't got that to work either. Any other ideas?

Another minor issue that I have run into is that I am not able to "call eventghost.exe -e ..." from a .cmd file that is launched from another process that is running on the WHS machine. I can launch the .cmd file manually and it is able to "call eventghost.exe -e ..." just fine. Someone in the forums here suggested a workaround by using udpsender.exe to send the event via udp to the broadcast plugin and this works perfectly which is what makes this issue a minor one.

It would be extremely helpful if I am able to address the first 2 challenges I am facing. I appreciate any help someone has to offer.

Thanks in advance!
