Windows 7 + EventGhost issues

Hello, I've been trying to get event ghost working for the past couple days with no luck. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. The most current version of EG. I'm using a generic Ebay MCE remote and receiver. The remote and receiver both work in windows 7 already but are not recognized by EG. Ive tried deleting the registry settings mentioned in other threads as well as trying Stottles plugin and service all with no luck. Currently when I check eventviewer I see "An error has occurred (FAILED to open MCE IR Device (searched all devices in MceIrOpenUsbDevice) failed with (259) No more data is available." I think that is what my issue is but I do not know how to solve it.

I forgot to mention once I finally get this to work I wont be using the ebay remote, I will be using my Harmony One.

Anyone have any suggestions?

When I get to step 8 my remote still works in windows. And I cannot figure out where "Get MCE IR device capability" is located.

Can you find the device in device manager? It sounds like even though it is labeled as an MCE receiver, it isn't detected as such (since the registry changes don't keep it from being loaded by the OS). This means that is a non-MCE receiver that "acts" like an MCE receiver, or that it is an MCE receiver, but a but that responds to different registry keys (the "a/b/c/d/e" thing). I think I only change the a/b registry codes, but maybe it is a/b/c. (More info in first post here, a lot of the rest of the posts are outdated).

If the device manager lists the device as "ehome", then removing more registry keys might work (but potentially impacts multimedia keyboards). If not, then maybe the HID plugin would work?

It would help to know what the device manager lists....

I dont see anything in Device Manager. The receiver is a W-01RN.

After some more googling and messing around Ive gotten EG to recognize a few of the buttons on my remote, but only a couple. Pause, FF, SkipFWD, Stop, Rewind. Do you know why its only recognizing these buttons?

I'm guessing it is recognized as a HID device and not an MCE remote. If so, you should be able to delete or disable the MceRemote_Vista plugin without changing the results.

any news on that topic? i've heard all mce remotes are the same (in another forum), so i bought this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34435
unfortunately thos was wrong. it got the w-01rn receiver,so i can't get it connected via both mce plugins. is there a way i could tweak the registry? maybe this just has to do with other names (not ehome but w-01rn for instance).
i mean, the remote is ok and works like a mce remote (even the media center button). hope this wasn't a complete waste of money...

looking into the registry the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57d... path is there.
