Ok, I have looked into this problem quite a bit...I believe it is a bug. If you use default homescreen stuff (no apps replacing your launcher/homescreen/etc)...the EventGhost shortcut creation works fine. But....if you are trying to feed an EventGhost shortcut to a 3rd party program....THE SHORTCUT FEATURE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. For me, this problem really puts a damper in the shortcut creation feature. I hope this gets fixed.

Meaning......EventGhost does not play nice with ALL of these Apps (and plenty more) that allow you to create shortcuts inside of them...
-LauncherPro and all other homescreen replacement apps
-Folder Organizer
-Multicon
-Apps Organizer

The list goes on. Basically, if you have an App that lets you create Shortcuts to other stuff in it......EventGhost shortcuts will fail. Your specific app will never see the EventGhost shortcut you create....the Shortcut will just jump onto your Homescreen (if you have Default Homescreen stuff).

The Simplest way to simulate this problem is to just install 'Folder Organizer lite'...open it up...go to shortcuts inside the app....attempt to create an EventGhost shortcut....it never reaches the app like it should. Simple and effective way to demonstrate the problem.

Just wanted to add that this bug is not specific to the phone quoted above....this problem exists on ALL android phones.

This is awesome...I was just thinking about making something similar (minus the server part on the android device). I am looking to in essence build a harmony remote using something like this. After playing around with it, I haven't found a way to have an "Activities" layout where each icon will send a command to eventghost, but also switch to a specified layout.

Is it possible to send event from phone client to eventghost automatically, when phone connects to wifi-network? Client could send event automatically in certain interval. That way i can detect is phone in wifi-network or not.

This would very easily be done with a Tasker state. Or it could send events based on an app being loaded on the phone, the date or time of day, your location (e.g. Home, Work, etc.), different states of the phone or even events generated on the phone.

It is quite possible right now!

All you have to do is to use the Webserver plugin in EventGhost and use Tasker action "HTTP Get". For example, to use the trigger Air1 described here:

use the computer IP as server and path "/example.html?Air1" (as configured in the webserver plugin) in "HTTP Get" action.


However, the communication is one-way only... To have EventGhost trigger a Tasker event would require some hackish and not very elegant ways (e.g. specific SMS, call from SIP client, etc.).

I am really sorry but I am really not able to do the "second step".
I installed EventGhost on my PC and my Android Device. As far as I understand I need to install an plugin for Eventghost on my PC to allow an connection. But I just don't find the plugin.

There is no entry for Android Devices when I clock on add plugin (I tried the iphone Plugin and changed the port, but that didn't help)

Any suggestions what I am doing wrong?

I have managed to create quite a lot of things. Everything I create is actually placed on my android's homescreen as a shortcut for quicker access. I will try to post up a screenshot tomorrow when I have more time.

I realize this is not the direct EGfA is going (as the independence from main computer seems to be stressed), but I still would like to see an ability to interpret a specially formatted HTML page (hosted by the PC EG) directly as a layout...

Layout switching is fine as long as the number of variable elements is low. If I want, e.g. to have six light switches on one page, the number of combinations is impractical. Also, HTML interpretation would make possible feeding information to EGfA - for example, display of temperature reported by thermostat.

These changes would make integration of home automation systems, e.g. xPL, much easier... I know the same result might be achieved by accessing a webpage with the phone browser, but this solution is so much more elegant!

And if that is not possible, then switching layouts directly from the phone would be great.

Thanks liquid8, this application is great.

I have it set up to send an event to my Eventghost server on incoming calls to the Android. Eventghost sends a pause command to MediaPortal if I'm watching a video, movie, TV, radio or music and displays the phone number using OSD. MediaPortal turns the lights on (using Tellstick Pause plugin) if it's after sunset.

Currently it's only the phone number that gets sent to the server, even if it's already saved to a contact in the phone book. Any chance of also transmitting the callers name?

Sorry, but I am having problems posting phone screenshots of my homescreens.

Instead, I will just list all the various shortcuts I created. I pretty much just dedicated a few homescreens to different functions of my computer. So one homescreen is for VLC and another is for Winamp.

VLC Shortcuts:
Fullscreen Toggle
Pause Toggle
Forward 5 sec
Backward 5 sec
Subtitle toggle
Vol Up/Down

Winamp Shortcuts:
Pause Toggle
Next Track
Rate Song 1 Star
Rate Song 2 Star

Vol Up/Down

Other Random Shortcuts I created:
Nav keys for navigating folders (Up/Down/Left/Right/Open)
Run/Close uTorrent

I place all of these little shortcuts on my phone's homescreens so I never ever have to open EventGhost app itself. It makes things much more streamlined and integrated into the phone. These shortcuts have proven invaluable for my purposes...which are mainly sitting back watching movies or actively listening to music.
