XBMC query - can anyone help

Post by jouster »

Hello everyone....Ive been using EG for a couple of years now and I have to say it really is a great piece of software which is making my XBMC setup run a treat.

But.....and isnt there always a but....I lost my config file tonight and now when Ive re setup Ive come across a problem....I will explain below

My remote (Nevo S70) has a 4 way arrow pad on it, which I use to navigate xbmc menus so simple left, right, up and down commands suffice.

Now whilst watching a video of any kind, if i press right, the film skips forward 30 seconds, and left skips backwards 30 seconds the up key skips forwards 10 minutes, and the down button, you guessed it, back 10 mins... and so far we are still all good.

This is exactly how the remote is currently functioning....however, in the last config that I lost, if I went into the OSD menu, where you can select subtitles, audio settings and what have you, you need the arrow menus to move about and select anything you wish to change, but of course when I try to change these setting with the arrow keys on the remote, an up moves the cursor up, but also skips the film forward by 10 minutes and so on and so forth.........now this definitely used to work but I cannot for the life of me remember what I changed or selected last time to make this work...any suggestions or blatant put downs telling me what I have done wrong are very welcomed....

I feel like a proper clutz as I will have set this up before to make it work fine...

HELP!!!!

Well it sounds like you have mapped the arrow keys to more than one function.
The included/default XBMC plugin don't really support having the arrow keys to navigate the menus and also be able to skip forward/back.
Luckily my XBMCRepeat plugin does. maybe you used it before?

You need to create a directory XBMCRepeat in (EventGhost install dir)\plugins directory. Then put both files __init__.py and xbmcclient.py in that directory.
Then restart EventGhost. Now add(rightclick menu) the plugin XBMCRepeat(sometimes it's called XBMC check that the author is Joni) from the Program control folder in the autostart folder.

Hopefully this gets you started.
