Not picking up button presses

Post by schwartzster »

I am running Windows XP SP3 and the latest version of EG (0.3.7.r1462) using an HP eHome IR receiver and a Logitech Harmony One remote (using a profile for MS MCE Keyboard, though I have tested others with similar results).

When I first plugged in the IR receiver, it was added to device manager as "Microsoft eHome Transceiver" in the HID section and it worked great as a keyboard emulator (arrows, numbers, enter, etc.). I added "MCE remote" to EG and disabled HID, but it did not affect the functionality of the remote; it still worked as an HID, even after I made the change in the registry, and no events appeared in EG. Next, I installed the MCE replacement driver. The relevant entry in device manager is now "MCE infrared remote control" under USB controllers. It still works as an HID until EG disables it, but EG still doesn't register events.

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

In writing the previous post, I realized that I was using MCE keyboard and not MCE remote on the Harmony One. I found an MCE remote in the Harmony software and now it works great. I can't believe how long I've been troubleshooting this only to figure it out 5 minutes after asking for help!
