Use of tv universal remotes?

Is there an adapter one can buy for their pc that allows them to use one of those universal tv remotes? Of course it has to work with eventghost

any mce receiver should work. You can find them easily and they are cheap.

If you prefer, you can go with usbuirt. It is more expensive but has robust blasting capabilities.

If you can afford it, have a look at irTrans.

Can you give me a name of a mce receiver that is available from newegg?
So with this mce receiver I will be able to use a tv universal remote to control my tv and then also use it to control my computer (with eventghost) ?

It's the one I have. It has a very good sensitivity (even better than my usbuirt) but it's not easy to make it blast.

And, yes, once eg is able to receive events from the ir receiver, you will be able to control your pc from your universal remote.

I'm using ethernet connected KIRA (Keene IR Anywhere) modules myself. There's a plugin for it in the coding corner.

Quite often people have problems with their MCE installations, nothing that can't be solved but you should be aware of those before you buy. (search forum)

Harmony remotes are universal remotes. If you set it up to replace an mce remote, obviously the mce receiver will catch its ir.
But the mce receiver can receive almost any ir from any remote. So even if your harmony emulate a Sony remote for example, the mce receiver will receive the ir.

Would you mind google ing a bit about ir ?
