no X10 events in EG after resuming from standby

Post by brokenmind »

hi all,

I've recently changed to win7 and I'm now trying to get EG working; therefore I've installed this driver:

ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/drivers/ -> x10drivers_6432_239.exe

...works great so far, the only problem left is that EG does not receive any more events from my Medion X10 when I'm resuming from standby/sleep; even restarting EG doesn't help;

I used the search function but couldn't come up with any suggestions helping me out here, so maybe someone here has come across this issue and is able to give me some advice?

many thanks in advance...

Is the driver still loaded after the wake-up/resume?

Does task manager show any X10 drivers/devices running BEFORE it sleeps?
Does it show the same AFTER wake-up?

Just a few things I have had to look into MANY times with my x10.

thanks a lot for your answer.

- process 'x10nets.exe' is seen in task manager before sleep and after resume;
- service 'X10 Device Network Service' (x10nets.exe) is in 'Started' state before/after
- X10 USB Wireless Transceiver (ACPI-compliant) is listed under 'USB Controllers' before/after

things I've tried so far (after resume):

- restart EG -> not working
- restarting the service 'X10 Device Network Service' -> not working
- killing 'x10nets.exe' from the task manager and start service 'X10 Device Network Service' again -> not working
- unplug USB X10 receiver and replug -> not working
- unplug USB X10 receiver and replug + restart EG -> finally working again

...but I don't think that's the way it's meant to be; are there any clues from the above listing that helps tracking down the problem? thanks again...

Sometimes when my X10 Firefly gets buggy (not seen properly in EG - X10 plugin shows red text in EG tree) I double click the x10 plugin, change the device from Firefly to any one of the others listed, apply, then change back to the Firefly.

That reloads the driver and it seems to work. But with a working driver. This shouldn't happen (but you know this already).

X10 devices can be very tricky... So many drivers it's sometimes hard to get just the right one.

yeah, I know, except there are no failure messages seen in EG, so that's not much of a hint; changing the plugin forth/backwards was also a dead end;
in the meantime I tried different X10 drivers floating around but they all show the same behavior...
as it worked out all fine on a previous machine (win7 with older HW) I guess it's maybe an issue with the motherboard or certain BIOS settings regarding USB; I'll play around with these some time, probably that will finally solve my issue...

Hello,

upon changing from a working XP to Win7 I ran into the same issue with my X10 USB receiver. No functionality after successful wakeup from standby. Only works after unplug/replug USb receiver.

Should you have found a solution please let me know, thanx !!
