Choices Choices Choices... lol

I just started this topic so we could ruminate about the new EventGhost website, forums, hosting, domains, php, databases and all sorts of other fun stuff that can tend to give me a headache.

Do we have any EXPERIENCED "web masters" in the house?
Have ANY of you administered a phpbb forum now or in the past?

I'm learning alot about all this stuff. One of the major things I think I have learned is that I SHOULD NOT be in charge of administering a big ole' forum. I can probably take care of some small stuff but please don't hand me the keys to the whole shooting match.
WAY to easy to break stuff.

FYI...

Just watching a new episode of Tekzilla and noticed a new sponsor of the show... WestHost
http://www.westhost.com/web-hosting/

Their $8 a mo. Preferred plan looks nice.
All sorts of goodies. Plus US based 24/7 phone support too (I'd prefer Sweden haha)
They look good.
The best part... A 25% discount if we tell them Tekzilla sent us.

http://www.eventghost.net
Should go to...

What the heck have I done wrong?

A test page is parked there... at the host...godaddy.com
http://eventghost.net/junktest.html
I had it working an hour ago. Lost it.

http://www.eventghost.net/junktest.html
(never loaded)

The registrar is domain.com.
The host is godaddy.com
ANY help/advise would be MUCH appreciated.

Does that mean you have the Forum-DB etc. from Bitmonster or are in contact with him?

man, there are a lot of threads on this topic. It's hard to stay tuned to them all. Is it possible to merge topics?

anyway I think I've got almost everything sorted for the website itself: main page, documentation, downloads.

Just need to:

- figure out what to do with the wiki (currently MoinMoin)

- make an adjustment to the forum header
- get the forum data dump from BitMonster

I don't really think this thread serves a purpose anymore. Maybe we should just delete it?
