If you find this forum valuable and would like to help keep it online, donations to help cover hosting and domain costs are greatly appreciated, but never expected. You can support the forum through Buy Me a Coffee or Ko-fi. Thank you for helping preserve the EventGhost community.

Whatever money is left over after paying for hosting and paying back the donations can go towards advertising to gain new users. I think this could be a very effective way to help keep the project alive. More users = more ad revenue = more external advertising = more users... rinse and repeat.
J
EXACTLY.
btw...
"paying back the donations" NEVER occurred to me.
Your a GENIUS jitterjames!!!
sure thing. You can email me or pm me the info, but I am flying all day today and probably wont be back online until tomorrow. I have a pretty busy day tomorrow as well, so I may not actually get all that much done, but I can certainly take a look.
I will not be back home and in full swing again until Sunday.
http://www.eventghost.biz is my attempt to keep the EG-Site alive. Bitmonster, i hope you don't mind that i copied text/images from your site.
There is still a lot to do, but if Bitmonster would be willing to give the sources, i think it wouldn't be to difficult to adopt/copy it to the new site. (But i maybe false, cause i'm just a admin-newbie )
yes. If you read this forum you will see that steps are already being taken to move the site/forum to a new host and a new domain name has already been created. We don't need multiple new sites / forums, one will do. I believe someone else is already taking care of the svn transfer as well, but this I have not been following too closely so I can't say for sure.

When i bought the webspace i haven't yet noticed that zian did that too. I only knew of the Domain and also i wanted to know myself how far i could get in setting up a site/forum. Of course i don't want multiple sites/forums, so i will redirect the domain to the new 'official' site.
OK Topix. I am sorry that I bit your head off a bit there! I appreciate your efforts, but this is a community and people need to work together and not go off on their own tangents. I just found it weird that you did that without reading any of the thread first. There was tons of discussion about the forum, domain name, raising money etc. If you look at the way Zian approached this I think you'll see that he did it the correct way, discussing with other users first instead of acting unilaterally. Anyway your motives were obviously good so I'm sorry I overreacted.
I am officially working with Zian to get the site and the forum ported over to eventGhost.NET. Please pm me once we are set up to arrange for proper domain name forwarding. Or you can simply put up a link, or even better just recycle the .biz. Ideally we will also have the .org domain forwarded by BitMonster to the .net one once the forum has been moved over, if he is willing.
I will report on our progress soon. If anyone wants to help, please offer to do it here, but don't go off doing your own thing without communicating with the rest of us first.
We are still waiting for someone with SVN experience to step up and make the transfer of the current SVN over to either source forge or git hub. I have heard offers but it doesn't sound like there is a concrete plan in place so let's try to get the ball rolling on that please! I personally have no experience with that.
Also, does anyone know if it is possible to export / import the MoinMoin data to another server. If it is not possible to transfer it then maybe we'll switch to mediaWiki or something.
I think there are a few guys working on the SVN situation now. It's in the plug-in voting thread.
Something about SourceForge being a lil' closed down this weekend too... cussed hackers.
Yup...
Thanks for you work (and money) folks.
Couldn't have done it without ya'.
I think we are good to go for the site. If anyone sees any errors please let us know.
It's pretty much up to BitMonster now I guess, in terms of the forum data dump. The ideal for me would be to get administrative access to the existing current forum so that I can do a test dump. If that goes smoothly, then we can plan a date to do the switch-over.
We also need to either get a wiki dump from the current moinmoin wiki, or if that's not possible maybe we start a new one?

It seems that the eventGhost wiki uses MoinMoin.

As suggested from Bitmonster i used svnsync to make a copy of the SVN (https://egbiz.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/egbiz)(just for testing, will delete it). It's very easy to do, just need a new project with an empty svn.
