I am looking at this software but have a couple of questions first.
1) I have 2 different IR reciever already. Both are listed as Microsoft eHome IR Transceivers in the device manager. Is there any way to know if they will work for receive and transmit?
2) Is their a way to have it send out IR codes if a certain file is accessed in the PC. More specific I want IR codes send out if a certain AVI file is played back in W7 Media Center.

1) Depends on the OS. The MceRemote plugin that comes with previous versions of EG works best on XP and doesn't support IR blasting. Does support receiving. There's also MceRemote_Vista, which works on Vista/Win7 (not XP). It supports receiving and blasting. If you grab the download linked here, it includes the Vista/Win7 plugin. Otherwise you need to download it from the forums.
2) I don't know of any way to tell when a file is accessed. That means you'd need to have an event passed from MCE to EG that you could respond to. The MCE Beta plugin that I wrote only sends EG actions to MCE, it doesn't receive message from MCE at the moment, but I thought there was another MCE plugin that received messages as well. If you can get an event, then sending the IR depends on being able to use the Vista/Win7 plugin. It would also require either learning or downloading the right IR codes. You might have a problem here if the IR is outside the frequency range the MCE transceiver supports (not common, but possible).
Overall, it may be possible, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the reasponce, I do have W7. So I will have to do some tesing and see what I can come up with. The codes I need to send out are both based on Sony TV codes I think so they shouldn't be anything to uncommon. Trial and error I guess. What I need to do is have the PC send an IR code to my Panny Projector to call up a zoom memory and another code to an Aspen Rotor Control that is used to control the automated masking on my screen. I have an intro program that will play a video file based on the aspect ratio of the movie, so right now I have a short video file play that displays the aspect ratio, then I puch the correct button on my Harmony that triggers the projector and masking. Trying to eliminate the need to push a button on the remote. My other option is try and get the program that calls up the video file to trigger a hot key or something that would have EG send out the signals.
