I'm having an issue with the MCE Remote Plugin and the Alternate MceIR Service that has to be installed with it.
I'm running Windows 7 (32-bit) and using an MCE remote, a Rosewill RRC-127 to be exact. I have Windows Media Center fully disabled, which means that the only buttons on the remote that do anything in Windows are the Up/Down/Left/Right buttons (Arrow keys), the OK/Select button (Return), the Clear button (Escape), the Enter button (Enter), and the number buttons (0-9, *, #). When I then install EventGhost and add the MCE Remote Plugin, I have to install the Alternate MceIr Service. At this point everything is still working fine. Windows still sees all of the aforementioned button presses, and EventGhost sees everything on from the MCE remote as well. I can then map a bunch of buttons to XBMC or whatever and everything is working great.
The problem, though, starts after a reboot. At that point, EventGhost still works fine, but Windows no longer sees the aforementioned button presses. If I want the Up/Down/Left/Right buttons on the remote to do anything, I now have to map them with EventGhost. (Unfortunately, the behavior of those buttons in XBMC is a lot better when Windows is detecting them natively, instead of having to route things through EventGhost). The only way to get Windows to start seeing those buttons on its own again is to uninstall the Alternate MceIr Service and do another reboot (disabling the service and doing a reboot isn't enough).
Is there any way to maintain the initial behavior of the installed Alternate MceIr Service even after a reboot? And if not, is there a way to configure Windows to fully uninstall a service when it shuts down? That would at least allow me to maintain the behavior I want without having to always do double reboots.
