Generic HID remote generates multiple keyboard events

Post by DMcK »

Hi,
I've got a generic USB IR device I'm trying to use with MediaPortal. I tried using the Generic HID plugin (and mapping the multiple occurrences of the IR device), but it misses several of the remote buttons that simply seem to be registering as key presses (e.g., number keys, pgup, pgdn, etc).

So I'm trying the Keyboard Plugin and another problem crops up. When I press a remote button, for example, to select My Music, I get multiple keyboard events:

Keyboard.LCtrl
Keyboard.LCtrl+M
Keyboard.M

I can easily use the Keyboard.LCtrl+M event to trigger My Music, but I also have the unwanted keyboard press of Keyboard.M which triggers mute in MediaPortal. There are several other remote keys that trigger multiple keyboard events with unwanted additional key presses. So I can't simple ignore them.

Is there some simple way to sometimes ignore the unwanted key presses? Or is there an easier way to do this?

Well, I guess nobody has any easy solutions...I guess I'll rip the USB IR receiver apart and re-purpose the components into a WinLIRC serial receiver which I've had past success with.
