I recently bought HTPC case from MS-TECH: MC-380 Rev.C
The case has an IR reciever and a Remote.
I'm trying to make a media center on Windows Home Premium 64bit (Service Pack 1) and XBMC.
Of course I'm trying to forward the commands from the remote to XBMC with the use of EventGhost (0.3.7.r1494).
My goal is that the XBMC responds to remote commands even if its window is not the active one. This can be easily accomplished using XBMC plugin in EventGhost.
And here is the problem.
I have not the slightest idea what plugin to use to get the events corresponding to the remote commands.
I've tried many different ones but the only plugin that showed any events is the keyboard plugin but I can't use that one, because it doesn't distinguish the remote commands and the key presses from the "regular" keyboard. For example - I'm watching a movie in XBMC and writing an e-mail in web browser so I need my regular keyboard to act as it should by default in the browser and simultaneously I want to be able to control XBMC (with the remote) without the need for switching between applications. That is why I need the remote to trigger events of a different type than "Keyboard".
The big question is which plugin I should use for this remote.
I had sent an e-mail to the MS-TECH support - they wrote that the IR receiver is registered as USB HID Device.
I've tried the "Generic HID" plugin with no results. The plugin enumerates the following devices:
5 times: USB reciever Logitech
4 times: Cordless keyboard Logitech
1 time: CTE-650 Wacom Co., Ltd.
1 times: BS650E CPS
4 times: Miii PC Reciever Mouse
3 times: Virtual HID Wacom
I've tried each of them with NO result.
Does anybody has an idea how to make it work as I wish it were?
