Microsoft MCE Remote Issue

Post by StHapns247 »

Hello, new user here. I am trying to get my Media Center remote to launch a specific program when I press the "1" button. This is working fine, it launches the program. However, when I press the button is ALSO enters the number "1" like I am pressing it on the keyboard.

I know the keyboard plugin works in a way that cancels out the keystroke and only takes the action EvenGhost is set to perform, but can this plugin be configured to so that as well? Is there another plugin I can use that will work this way?

Thanks!

No. This would require a low-level Keyboard Hook, and thats not what Eventghost does and how it works. Keystrokes are registered by Eventghost, but NOT blocked for further actions. So if u bind e.g. the left "Win" Key to some function with Eventghost it will still open the Start-menu in addition. This is a little advantage of girder where u can select to block the further action-chain.
but can this plugin be configured to so that as well? Is there another plugin I can use that will work this way?
No chance. U can try the "mce replacement driver" but development has stopped. Which remote do u have exactly?

The remote is called a MediaGate MCE Remote Control, but when I tried to set it up with my Logitech Harmony One I had to set it up as a generic MCE remote.

I was using EventGhost because it was free, Girder is not.

Where can I get the"mce replacement driver"?
