Using Eventghost with X10 remote

There was a small bug with the bytesize. Get 0.3.6.1052.

But the plugin will not help you much like it is now, because the device has no terminator char.
As a first experiment you can add the line:
print ord(ch)
to its HandleChar method.

Perhaps I still don't have enough grasp on EG as yet, but I tried inserting this, and nothing.
I still had activity on the reciever, but didn't print anything to the log area.

First I would try, if you can see anything with HyperTerminal from the MouseRemote.

Can't say I'm at all familiar with Hyperterminal at all.

I know I can see serial communication with PCRemoteControl software.

Will Hyperterminal allow me to dig deeper into determining how to setup and configure the remote?

Ok, I did some more research, and got Hyper terminal running... logging the output of the reciever...

By the looks of it, it uses a ? here as a terminator.

This is all buttons on the remote that operate except the play button that seems to send the output to the start of the current line, over writing everythin in it.

...Btw. I have developed and built an X10 remote receiver myself long time ago. This one works even through two reinforced concrete floors with the ATI RW. So its not a matter of the remote. The USB receivers are poor.

I'd be interested in seeing the schematics for that! I have an older ATI RW as well, that may use the same reciever for all I know. I could modify that one if I knew what to modify.

Hi All!
I was just introduced to EventGhost last week, and already I have it working nicely with Vista controlling Media Center with an ATI remote Wonder Plus. I also have an X10 Mouse Remote I would like to use with it because of it's increased range over the ATI Remote wonder.

I played with the serial plugin with it, and it does allow the reciever to flash, but there is no events generated in EG. I suppose this is where BitMonster would concentrate his efforts.

I come here today to investigate the support for the mouseremote, and discovered this thread.

I assume that BitMonster hasn't recieved a remote as yet.... Correct?
If not, and if Topper is still interested, perhaps we could go halvsies on a new remote for BitMonster to use for developement...

I too am/was a girder user. I'm currently stuck at version 3.3 due to lack of plugin support in versions 4 & 5. Up until my switch to Vista, I was happy with Girder, but 3.3 doesn't seem to run as happily as it did with XP. I've been passing many events to another scripting app called AutoHotkeys to accomplish my tasks. I'm afraid I'm coming to the end of the Girder tracks.

Uh, how did you get it to work with media center in vista?!

Sorry for such a late responce.... I didn't ever get the MR to work with Vista, but I have been using the Remote wonder with Eventghost to control Media center.

I'd still like to get the mouse remote to work, as I much prefer it over the remote wonder.

I may just have to break down and get a firefly.

Has anyone tried adding multiple X10 receivers to extend the range (even if this is not the best way... it would be the cheapest and easiest)?

What would be the best way to prevent double events when using the remote in a area where both receivers are in range?
