How to get KinEmote to communicate with EG without programming:
Step 1: The key is modifying HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey listing. If the number does not exist, create it and add the
String key : ShellExecute
Parameter: C:\Eventghost\Eventghost.exe -e command
Just change the command to what you want. Below are the keys that you will find useful.
Back (Internet browser) 1
Calculator 18
Favorites 6
Refresh (Internet browser) 3
Forward (Internet browser) 2
Mail 15
Stop (Internet browser) 4
WebHome 7
Step 2: Install KinEmote (look it up on google). FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
Step 3: Configure the Kinemote To use the browser functions (BrowserForward, BrowserBack, BrowserRefresh, BrowserStop) and the LaunchApp1 and LaunchApp2 (the Mail and Calc hotkeys). These are mapped for keyboards that have extra buttons.
Step 4: Launch Kinemote (you can save the user profile in the c:\Documents and Settings\[CurrentUser]\Local Settings\Application Data\Kinemote\KinEmote.exe_Url_e4b5wmypfde33gguqh2o3cf2cs3x00ib\0.4.0.0\user.config) and play around with it.
Its that easy. Let me know what else you find. I picked these buttons because I figured they would come in handy if I was surfing on my TV to begin with, the buttons are already mapped! (Not sure if changing the AppKey disables this or not).
Enjoy.
P.S. doggo is coming.

Re: Kinect (KinEmote) how to get it to work with EG
Does anybody use this?
or a Kinect with their PC at all?
I just picked up a Kinect for XBox yesterday, tried it for 10 minutes, got board (I'm no gamer).
Very interested to see what it can do with a PC/EG/XBMC/VoxC etc.
Thanks.

I think I'll try it... again.
But what I like so much about my x-10 FireFly remotes is they work from under the blankets.
Can the Kinect do that?
